  • Patent number: 6300079
Abstract: A living body component in a sample derived from a living body can be rapidly and accurately measured by reacting the sample with a reagent comprising a combined product of an affinity substance and a polypeptide having at least three acid residues derived from a strong acid, separating the resulting complex by a method applying negative change such as using an anion-exchanger, and determining the amount of the analyte to be measured, on the basis of the amount of the complex or free combined product.

  • Patent number: 6141223
Abstract: A battery assembly is provided for holding a battery and for supplying power to an integrated circuit. When the battery is removed from the battery assembly, the battery assembly provides a LOW level signal to either the high voltage input (Vdd) of the integrated circuit or the reset port of the integrated circuit. The battery assembly includes a battery holder, a negative electrode attached to the battery holder and electrically connected to the a negative power line related to the integrated circuit, and a positive electrode also attached to the battery holder and connected to a positive power line to provide power to the integrated circuit. The positive and negative electrodes are disposed such that the battery may be held between the positive and negative electrodes, with positive and negative terminals of the battery in electrical contact with the positive and negative electrodes. The negative electrode includes an electrically conductive extension.

  • Patent number: 6081147
Abstract: A controlled delay circuit having a first gate chain, and a second gate chain. The first gate chain is used to measure a time difference between a changeover point of a first control signal and a changeover point of a second control signal. The second gate chain, which receives third signals generated in the first gate chain and representing the time difference, is used to provide an appropriate delay time from an input to an output depending on the time difference. The controlled delay circuit is capable of properly controlling the timing of the control signal according to the period of the control signal.

  • Patent number: 6076164
Abstract: A method and system for authenticating between a user or client and a network access entity such as a server or another client using an IC card. The method includes a step of executing an initial authentication using the IC card when the user first communicates with the network access entity, a step of commonly holding authentication information in both the user and the network access entity if the initial authentication achieves success, and a step of executing a re-authentication using the commonly held authentication information without using the IC card when the user communicates again with the same network access entity within a predetermined period of time after the last authentication.

  • Patent number: 6070801
Abstract: Demodulated data B containing the whole of a right block and a part of a left block is obtained after demodulated data A containing a start guard bar and based on a division reading process has been at first obtained. When demodulated data C containing an end guard bar and numerical data of three characters is thereafter obtained, a CPU aligns the demodulated data C with modulus 10-OK data obtained by synthesizing the demodulated data A with the demodulated data B on the basis of the end guard bar, and compares tenth through twelfth characters (of the numerical data) of both of data with each other. As a result of this comparison, if the tenth through twelfth characters (of the numerical data) of both of data are coincident with each other, the CPU increments an identical character counter.

  • Patent number: 6007458
Abstract: Upshifting is performed in a short time without giving rise to shocks. For that purpose, at the time of upshifting, a hydraulic pressure (QUPOFF) of a hydraulic engaging element on disengaging side is controlled such that the input and output speed ratio ("Gratio") of a transmission is decreased to, and held at, a predetermined slipping region (YG(N)S) that is lower than an engaging region (YG(N)L)-YG(N)H) to be set based on a gear ratio which is established by the engagement of the hydraulic engaging element on the disengaging side. The hydraulic pressure (QUPON) of a hydraulic engaging element on engaging side is gradually increased. When "Gratio" once falls below YG(N)L and then increases up again to YGCONOK, QUPOFF is lowered to a predetermined low pressure (QUPOFFB) at a lapse of a predetermined time (YTMUP8). Once "Gratio">YGCONOK, QUPON is increased to a predetermined high pressure QUPONB at a lapse of a second predetermined time YTMUP3.

  • Patent number: 5971045
Abstract: A veneer lathe comprising a knife (2) for peeling a log (1), which is secured rotatably to a knife stock, and a roller bar (3) disposed to press a circumferential surface of the log (1) at an upstream side, in relative to said knife (2), of a rotational direction of the log (1). The roller bar (3) has a diameter of not more than 30 mm, and is provided on the circumferential surface thereof with a large number of projections (5) whose height is not higher than the circumferential surface of the roller bar (3). The roller bar (3) is sustained in a sliding bearing (9) and adapted to receive a rotational force from a driving source. The roller bar (3) functions not only as a pressure bar but also as a power transmitting media to rotate the log (1), thereby preventing the generation of lathe check of veneer to be produced.
