    Abstract: A heave suppressed, floating offshore drilling and production platform comprises vertical columns, lateral trusses connecting adjacent columns, a deep-submerged horizontal plate supported from the bottom of the columns by vertical truss legs, and a topside deck supported by the columns. The lateral trusses connect adjacent columns near their lower end to enchance the structural intergrity of the platform. During the launch of the platform and towing in relatively shallow water, the truss legs are stowed in shafts within each column, and the plate is carried just below the lower ends of the columns. After the platform has been floated to the deep water drilling and production site, the truss legs are lowered from the column shafts to lower the plate to a deep draft for reducing the effect of wave forces and to provide heave and vertical motion resistance to the platform.

    Abstract: A system, method, and program of the invention enables a separating region to be displayed adjacent to at least one side of a problem menu choice within a menu list in a user interface. The problem menu choice may be any menu choice that has the potential for causing undesirable effects if it is inadvertently selected by a user, such as by overshooting a desired menu choice with a displayed pointer. The separating region creates a non-selectable area that buffers the problem menu choices from the other menu choices. The user is notified if the user moves the displayed pointer into the separating region. The notification may include any one or more of the following: i) changing the rate of movement of the displayed pointer, ii) causing the displayed pointer to change in appearance, and iii) causing an audible sound. The separating region may be partitioned into zones wherein certain characteristics of the notification is dependent upon the zone location of the displayed pointer.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for administering redundant cancellations of orders for securities. Canceling orders for securities in an automated securities trading broker-dealer system. Receiving new cancellations from clients and searching a cancellation queue for cancellations corresponding to the new cancellations. If a corresponding cancellation is found in the cancellation queue, the redundancy count of the corresponding cancellation is incremented in the cancellation queue and the new cancellation is discarded. If a cancellation corresponding to the new cancellation is not found in the cancellation queue, a copy of the new cancellation is placed in the cancellation queue and the new cancellation is sent to the market. Embodiments periodically scanning the cancellation queue for cancellations having a redundancy count greater than zero, decrementing the redundancy count for such cancellations. Some embodiments issue additional cancellations dependent upon receipt of acknowledgments of earlier cancellations.

    Abstract: For a spar type floating platform having risers passing vertically through the center well of a spar hull, there is provided apparatus for supporting the risers from a gimbaled table supported above the top of the spar hull. The table flexibly is supported by a plurality of non-linear springs attached to the top of the spar hull. The non-linear springs compliantly constrain the table rotationally so that the table is allowed a limited degree of rotational movement with respect to the spar hull in response to wind and current induced environmental loads. Larger capacity non-linear springs are located near the center of the table for supporting the majority of the riser tension, and smaller capacity non-linear springs are located near the perimeter of the table for controlling the rotational stiffness of the table. The riser support table comprises a grid of interconnected beams having openings therebetween through which the risers pass.

    Abstract: A rotation restricted barrel lock and key includes a rotationally actuated barrel lock and a key for opening the lock. The key comprises a lock engaging portion rigidly attached to a handle, and a sleeve rotatably mounted on the handle shaft. The sleeve may slide axially along the shaft within preset limits. Lock actuation is characterized by rotation of the lock engaging portion of the key relative to the lock. During actuation of the lock, a set of prongs on the sleeve engages a complementary set of notches on the barrel lock, thereby non-rotatably coupling the barrel lock to the sleeve. By grasping the sleeve, the user can prevent rotation of the lock while turning the key handle, and thus actuate the lock.

    Abstract: A riser tube tower for stabilizing riser tubes extending from respective wellheads associated with a seabed frame on the seabed to a platform, preferably a tension leg platform, at the sea surface. Vertically movable shuttle plates are located in the vertical spaces over, between, and under the guide plates. The vertical wires and riser tubes pass through spaced apertures in the guide plates and the shuttle plates. The apertures in the shuttle plates are aligned with respective apertures in the guide plates. Bushings are disposed in the apertures of the guide plates and the shuttle plates for protecting the guide plates and shuttle plates from the riser tubes and wires, and for reducing friction therebetween. Elevator devices move the shuttle plates vertically above, below, or between the guide plates.

This strain is operable to affect light traveling through the optical fiber (14, 30, 38) to produce an optical signal for a fiber optic system. In one embodiment, the sensor (10) can be a geophone sensor that produces an electrical signal proportional to motion of the geophone sensor. In another embodiment, the sensor (10) can be a hydrophone sensor that produces an electrical signal proportional to acoustic pressure incident on the hydrophone sensor.

The time sampled recording has a source and receiver, and a source coordinate and a receiver coordinate associated therewith. The time sampled recording also has an amplitude and a sampled time associated therewith. The method comprises reading the source and receiver coordinates and determining an ellipsoid dependant upon the source-receiver offset, the sampled time, and the velocity of the medium. The ellipsoid has the source as one focus and the receiver as the other focus. The method further comprises determining a set of normal points on the ellipsoid and determining the distance between each of the normal points and the zero-offset trace location and dividing twice the distance by the velocity of the medium, wherein the zero-offset travel time for each normal point is determined.

A cable connects each support vessel to the associated active deflector for supplying one or more of power and control signals from the support vessel to the associated deflector. At least one wing is attached to each deflector.

Also, in this method for amplitude spectra estimation, the gathering may include measuring the down-going waves and the separating may include removing the down-going waves from the seismic data.
