Patent number: 4409818Abstract: A device for testing the integrity and strength of a seal. The device includes a first enclosure member adapted to receive a pre-sealed package formed of two films joined together to form a continuous seal, the two films extending outwardly of the seal to define a marginal edge portion of the package. A second enclosure member adapted to cooperate with the first enclosure member upon demand is also provided to seal the marginal edge portion in spaced relation to the continuous seal of the pre-sealed package. The device also includes a fluid injection member adapted to cooperate with the first and second enclosure members by injecting a fluid between the two films after the marginal edge portion of the pre-sealed package has been sealed. An opening located outwardly of the continuous seal of the pre-sealed package and inwardly of the seal created by the first and second enclosure members is provided through which the fluid may be injected between the two films of the package.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1982Date of Patent: October 18, 1983Assignee: Donald F. Patent number: 4407466Abstract: A rotary wing aircraft is disclosed and includes a fuselage, a gas turbine engine operated air compressor within the fuselage, and a jet nozzle driven rotor assembly situated over the fuselage and having a rotor axis about which the assembly rotates. The rotor assembly includes a generally hollow rotor hub and a plurality of generally hollow jet nozzle driven rotor blades extending radially outwardly of the rotor hub. The rotor hub defines air conduit means to the rotor blades. A section of at least one rotor blade comprises a foldable flexible air conduit for folding the rotor blade in a radial plane relative to the rotor hub. Releasable stabilizing means, including a droop stop, is disposed between the rotor hub and an outboard portion of the rotor blade beyond the flexible air conduit section, whereby the stabilizing means may be released and the blade folded in its radial plane with the flexible air conduit section acting as a hinge.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1980Date of Patent: October 4, 1983Assignee: Overseas International Distributors Company B.V.Inventors: Darrow Thompson, Daniel L. Patent number: 4346749Abstract: A motor and roller support includes a reversible lock clutch mechanism having a housing including an annular portion having a plurality of alternately deep and shallow recesses and a spindle axially received in the housing and having at least one flexible pawl positioned to cooperate with the plurality of recesses of the housing, with the pawl being unflexed when radially aligned with any of the deep recesses of the housing, and being angularly flexed upon being positioned in any of the shallow recesses of the housing. Upon alignment of the pawl with any of the deep recesses of the housing, relative rotation between the housing and the spindle can be initiated in either direction. However, upon the pawl being positioned with its end residing in a shallow recess of the housing and abutting the recess surface, relative rotation between the housing and the spindle can be initiated in only one direction therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1980Date of Patent: August 31, 1982Assignee: Sears, Roebuck and CompanyInventors: Buckley A. Patent number: 4341210Abstract: A cuffed endotracheal tube and method designed for insertion of the tube through the mouth of a patient to provide a passage for artificial respiration. The device includes an elongated flexible air tube having proximal and distal end portions. A pair of enlargements encircle the tube intermediate the proximal and distal end portions. The lower of the enlargements is sized and shaped to fall short of fully occupying the cavity defined by the wall of the trachea and rests at or below the opening defined by the lower lateral surfaces of the larynx. The upper of the enlargements is sized and shaped to fully occupy the cavity defined by the wall of the pharynx and seals the opening defined by the superglottic structure of the glottis. At least the upper of the enlargements is an inelastic inflatable-deflatable cuff secured to the tube proximal to the lower of the enlargements. Patent number: 4333584Abstract: A lockable closure for a container having a foldable annular wall advantageously has locking means whereby the closure can be releasably locked to the container. The closure has an annular bendable wall adapted to be disposed at least partially in contact with the annular wall of the container. The bendable wall has a reversely bent annular lip adapted to be disposed about the outer edge of the annular wall of the container. Upon the closure being disposed with its reversely bent annular lip disposed about the outer edge of the wall of the container, the bendable wall of the closure and its annular lip are deflectable with the foldable wall of the container to fold the bendable wall into and out of locking engagement with the foldable wall of the container. The closure is retained in either the locked or unlocked positions without additional forces or apparatus as it is substantially in a zero stress condition at these positions.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1980Date of Patent: June 8, 1982Assignee: Sears, Roebuck and Co.Inventor: John C.
