  • Patent number: 6640674
Abstract: A screwdriver of the type having a variable torque-limiting in-line drive with a handle having a cavity and a drive bit disposed in the cavity. Over-ride drive members are disposed in the cavity and a spring exerts a force on the drive members for transmitting only a maximum force to a bit in the screwdriver. Two adjustable controls are at a back end of the tool and they are used to apply a varying force to the spring and thus limit the amount of maximum torque to be transmitted.

  • Patent number: 6589017
Abstract: An aircraft rotatable airfoil assembly in the nature of a helicopter machine and having two airfoils diametrically disposed about an axis of rotation. Air baffles are mounted on the radially inner and radially outer ends of the airfoils and for blocking the vortices inherently generated by the orbiting of the airfoils. The baffles thereby avoid vortices which reduce the lift force on the aircraft by eliminating the air flow from under the airfoil to above the airfoil and around the airfoil inner and outer ends. The assembly can be included in an airliner or an automobile. The aircraft is arranged for vertical and horizontal flight.

  • Patent number: 6575042
Abstract: A beam-type torquing and measuring tool having two telescoping members rotationally attached together at a first end of each, and they are relatively rotatable at the other end. One member transmits torque to the workpiece and has a pointer thereon, and the other member has a scale readable relative to the pointer to measure the torque being applied. The members have a central opening extending axially therethrough for canalization, and there may be adapters threadedly attached to the tool ends, and the scale and pointer can be read in their two diametrically opposite locations.

  • Patent number: 6564680
Abstract: A hand manipulated torque tool, such as a screwdriver, having two handle portions pivotal between two modes of a straight relationship and a right angle relationship which forms a T-handled tool. A lock mechanism is operative between the handle portions to releasably hold the portions in the selected modes. The mechanism is accessible from the exterior of the tool, and it is operated by user finger pressure and it automatically re-locks upon release of the pressure and the subsequent pivoting of one handle portion to either of the two positions.

  • Patent number: 6551316
Abstract: A selective compression and distraction instrument useful in manipulating bone, such as a person's spine during surgery. There are two handle sections and one jaw section. One handle section produces a compression action and the other produces a distraction action. The user determines which action to apply, and then selects the appropriate handle section which is releasably attached to the one jaw section. The jaw section is arranged to have two tips, and the jaw section moves the tips in a parallel relationship toward and away relative to each other. The tips are releasably and interchangeably attachable to the jaw section, and they provide selective spacing of tip blades from each other.

  • Patent number: 6543317
Abstract: A screw holder and torquing tool having a one-piece body with a cavity for receiving a screw in a sturdy and stable condition. The screw can be applied in stabilizing bone, and the tool can apply sufficient torque though it is of a relatively small overall size. Tangs or fingers are flexible on the tool and they flex toward and away from the cavity and they hold the screw in the tool until the screw is embedded into bone or other host object.

  • Patent number: 6502835
Abstract: A work piece holder with clamping and rotation mechanisms in a support. A holder or brake exists next to a collet and sleeve assembly to restrain the assembly from rotating. Hydraulic pumps and connections operate on the mechanisms for the clamping and rotating actions. An electronic controller is connected with the mechanisms and operates the system in a sequence for selective machining on the work pieces.

  • Patent number: 6446829
Abstract: A unit comprised two sections of a paint brush holder and a paint brush wiper. Those two sections are together in one integral unit and are releasably attachable to a conventional paint container. The unit can be made of plastic which is sufficiently sturdy for the purpose and which is sufficiently flexible for snapping onto the upper ledge of the paint container. The entire assembly with the paint container is such that there is no obstruction in the repeated action of dipping the brush into the paint in the container, and the wiper accommodates brushes up to the largest size of four inch width, and the wiped paint is directed to flow back into the container.

  • Patent number: 6253533
Abstract: A lawnmower reel and drive motor assembly with a mower frame and a reel and post supported by the frame. The motor has an opening which receives the post, and the motor is supported by the post in mounting the motor on the frame. The post has a slot therethrough, and a flat spring extends through the slot and abuts the motor and the post to thereby releasably hold the motor relative to the frame.

  • Patent number: 6179313
Abstract: A motorcycle exhaust pipe heat shield arranged for protecting the footwear, clothing, and the foot of the motorcycle passenger. The shield is attachable to the motorcycle in a location intermediate the engine exhaust pipe and the floorboard for the passenger's foot. The shield presents an upright planar portion for shielding from the heat of the exhaust pipe, and it also presents an attachment bracket for readily and securely attaching the entire shield to the motorcycle. The method of making the shield includes the cutting of the blank from a sheet of metal and then appropriately forming and bending the blank to present the final configuration of the shield which is also surface finished with a reflective surface for esthetics as well as heat reflection.

  • Patent number: 6179302
Abstract: An adapter for a driver of a rotary tool, and including a pin and slot combination effective between an adapter body and an adapter collar which is slidable on the body. A pin and slot combination guides the sliding and a spring urges the collar with its pin and slot combination into a tool locking position. The slot in the combination is at an acute angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the adapter, and thus it secures the working tool relative to the body and does so by means of a rotary action for the collar which actually also induces the axial movement of the collar for the securing of the tool. The tool has a conical surface oriented opposite to that of a collar conical surface which bears upon the balls for the tool tightening action mentioned. The method of securing the tool is included in the aforementioned.

  • Patent number: 6176084
Abstract: A hydraulic system for propelling a vehicle, and with the system arranged with a pump and vehicle drive motors and valves and pilot lines. The operator can select an all-wheel drive or a lesser number of wheel drives. Also, there is a system automatic response to certain conditions of vehicle drive, whereupon the system activates to alter the drive to the various vehicle wheels, including changing from a four-wheel drive mode to a two-wheel drive mode. Further, the operator can override the system's own activation and thereby establish the two-wheel drive mode desired.
