Patent number: 6503701Abstract: A sensor for detecting analytes of interest is described. Analyte presence or concentration is determined through measurement of changes in induced electromotive force, current or other electrical property in a sensor strip during analyte exposure to the sensor. According to one class of embodiments, the present device immobilizes natural or synthetic macromolecules sufficiently close to an electrically-conductive base member to insure that interaction of analyte with the macromolecules will lead to altered de novo electrical signals in the sensor strip of base member and macromolecules. Performance of the sensor is enhanced by the use of resistance-modifying element in a circuit that includes the sensor strip, and by an adhesive agent disposed between the base member and at least one electrical lead of a detection unit.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2001Date of Patent: January 7, 2003Assignee: Biosensor Systems Design, Inc.Inventor: Alan Joseph Bauer

Patent number: 6342347Abstract: The present invention relates to a sensor for analyte detection. The sensor makes use of changes in electrostatic fields associated with macromolecular binding agents during their interaction with analytes. Specifically, analyte presence leads to increases in magnetic flux generated by the motions of the binding agent electrostatic material. Magnetic or induced electrical signals may be monitored for change in order to detect analyte in a sample of interest.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1999Date of Patent: January 29, 2002Assignee: Biosensor Systems Design., Inc.Inventor: Alan Joseph Bauer

Patent number: 5881036Abstract: The present invention allows the light beam of an optical disc storage device to radially move between different information tracks of an optical disc while the storage device tracking servo loop remains in a continuous closed loop mode of operation. The invention operates to radially move a light beam from one information track to another during a closed loop mode of operation by activating two control signals introduced into the closed tracking servo loop to create a phantom track center that radially moves across the optical disc. Because the tracking servo loop is in a closed loop mode of operation, the tracking servo operates to keep the light beam centered on the point that the tracking servo considers to be the center of an information track; in this case the phantom track center. Therefore, the tracking servo causes the light beam to radially move across the disc in a closed loop mode of operation by keeping the light beam centered on the moving phantom track center.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1997Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Assignee: Discovision AssociatesInventor: Ludwig Ceshkovsky

Patent number: 5829007Abstract: A RAM implementation of asynchronous swing buffering is provided in which two buffers are operated asynchronously; one is written while the other is read. Accordingly, this allows for a data stream having a fast rate of through-put to be resynchronized to another rate, while still maintaining a desired rate. In the invention, the write control and read control both have state indicators for communicating which buffer they are using and whether the controls are waiting for access or are, in fact, accessing that buffer.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: October 27, 1998Assignee: Discovision AssociatesInventors: Adrian P.
