  • Patent number: 8252396
Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a barrier film that maintains an oxygen barrier after being subjected to autoclaving conditions. The film comprises one EVOH layer positioned as a core layer, and one EVOH layer positioned directly adjacent to an outer layer comprising highly permeable material having a moisture vapor permeability greater than about 40 g-mil/100 in2-day-atm. During autoclaving, the barrier properties of the EVOH layer positioned adjacent to the outer layer allows improved recovery of oxygen barrier properties. In addition, during rewetting applications, the internal EVOH layer maintains the oxygen barrier. Also disclosed are methods of making and using the disclosed barrier film.

  • Patent number: 8205771
Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter comprises a pouch to house a pumpable product, a pouch fitment sealed within or outside the pouch, and a rigid dispenser for containing the pouch and fitment. In some embodiments, the system can further comprise a pump operatively connected to the rigid dispenser to dispense the pouch contents. The rigid dispenser is advantageously configured with a raised segment to support, center, and elevate the fitment sealed within said pouch.

  • Patent number: 8129007
Abstract: Coextruded, biaxially oriented, heat-shrinkable films having a base layer comprising a polyester having an intrinsic viscosity greater than 0.75 and at least one outer heat-sealable layer directly adhered to the base layer are disclosed. The outer layer is heat-sealable and optionally peelable in particular to polyester containers. The invention further relates to a process for producing the film and to packages comprising a container, a product and the coextruded, biaxially-oriented heat-shrinkable film sealed onto the container. The packages are suitable for use with ready-prepared foods, so-called “ready-meals”, which are intended to be warmed in a microwave or in a conventional oven.
