Abstract: A pacifier for infants, having a nipple provided with a chamber, the wall of which has perforations. In use, the chamber is supplied with flavored sweets such as pellets of candy, of frozen fruit juices. When the nipple is then placed in the infant's mouth, saliva therein circulates through the perforations thereof and the resulting sweetened fluid flowing therethrough encourages the infant to retain the nipple in its mouth and not eject it.
Abstract: A fixture to be mounted on the table of a radial-type circular saw to enable the accurate and convenient sawing of the joints of complementary adjoining members of picture frames and other mitered frames. This fixture permits the sawing of the adjoining members of a frame without necessitating a re-setting of the angular position of the saw for each end of the frame members, thus avoiding angular errors; the fixture remaining undisturbed relative to the saw during the sawing of the ends of each of the members.
Abstract: A fishing-rod holder to be mounted upon the hull of a boat or other support, comprising an upwardly-directed tubular member into which a fishing rod can be inserted. The tubular member is mounted on a bracket so as to swivel at various angles vertically, and which bracket is pivotally mounted upon a base to permit directing the rod at various lateral positions.
Abstract: A means of supporting a carrier rack over the top of a vehicle comprising support members inserted in the rack and extending downwardly therefrom and resting in a gutter adjacent to the top. Tension members embrace the exterior of the gutter and extend divergently relative to the support members, and are anchored under tension to the transverse members of the carrier frame.
Abstract: A means to support a rotisserie over an outdoor open fire; the rotisserie being hung from a frame by a chain. An adjusting means is provided to raise or lower the rotisserie relative to the fire, proportional to the heat required. Levelling means is included in order to adjust the level of the rotisserie so as to obtain uniform roasting of the meat mounted thereon. The frame can be disassembled for transportation.
Abstract: A means of securing a panel in an opening in a wall or the like, comprising an assembly having a body fixed to the wall adjacent to the opening. A sliding member in the body is positioned to slide over the panel, and is provided with a threaded locking member to be brought into engagement with the surface of the panel in a direction substantially normal thereto. A friction-inducing member is provided to co-operate with the sliding member and the body to reduce the tendency of the sliding member to shift when the threaded member is not engaged with the panel.
Abstract: A display card having a rearwardly-positioned foot to maintain the card in an upright position, and a forwardly-positioned pocket to hold material for distribution. The card comprises a front display-panel portion with the pocket formed therefrom, and a rear panel portion with the foot formed therefrom. The front panel and rear panel comprise a unitary sheet folded so as to permit the contiguous positioning of the panels in back-to-back relationship, and finally securing them in integrally together by suitable means.
Abstract: A blower to clear obstructions such as leaves from a golf green in preparation to "putting" the ball, comprising a head having a slit to be positioned in proximity to the surface of the green. A tubular shaft extends upwardly from the head and terminates in a housing containing a motor having a fan. Batteries in the housing provide current to operate the motor upon actuation of a switch. The fan causes air to flow through the slit to blow the obstructions from the surface of the green in preparation for "putting" the ball. A brush can be positioned on the head to remove obstructions too heavy to be moved by the air stream.
Abstract: A guard to prevent unauthorized opening of sliding doors and similar closures, comprising a longitudinal member having a major portion and a minor portion hinged together end-to-end. The guard when fully extended, is positioned normal to the direction of opening of the door, and extends between the jamb and the edge of the door and preferably resting on the floor. When the door is to be partially opened for ventilation, the minor portion is hinged 180.degree. so as to overlap the major portion. The resultant shortened guard then permits the door to be opened only an amount equal to the length of the minor portion.
Abstract: A Manual Log Splitter comprising a frame having upright and laterally-spaced guide members, and a horizontal beam slidably-supported on the guide members. A splitting wedge is integral with the beam so as to be positioned in engagement with the upper end of the log. The wedge is then struck by a manually-held sledge to split the log; the operation is repeated, depending upon the size of the pieces desired.
Abstract: A carton of fiberboard or the like formed from a unitary blank and having a double front wall and a double bottom. The conventional bottom extends forwardly and terminates in the double front wall, and the additional bottom extends rearwardly and includes a tuck portion to be inserted between the conventional bottom and the usual bottom flaps.
