Abstract: A gas-lift valve includes a valve member having an inner wall defining a flow passage having a longitudinal axis, the valve member having a planar inlet end and an outlet end, the inner wall diverging from the inlet end to the outlet end so that the flow passage increases in cross sectional area from the inlet end to said outlet end.
Abstract: An IC socket with good durability that permits electrical tests on IC to be performed accurately over a long period of time is provided. An elastically deformable metal plate 12 is fixed within a spring accommodating portion 9 of a support board 2. The metal plate 12 is such that a plurality of spiral cantilevers 19 are formed so as to correspond to bumps 21 of the IC 10, and the flat tip 19a of the spiral cantilever supports an insulative resin film 3. When the IC 10 is pressed by an IC pressing part 54 and the bump 21 of the IC 10 flexibly deforms the spring part S via the insulative resin film 3, a contact pressure due to the elastic force of the spring part S occurs in the contact area between the bump 21 and contact pad 11.
Abstract: A clamping device for fixing plastic molded parts during welding is proposed, comprising a flange-like fastening part for fastening on a plastics welding device, the fastening part having at least one first annular recess for receiving a clamping element and the fastening part having at least one second recess for receiving spring elements acting radially on the clamping element, the clamping element having at least one projection on an inner surface which is arranged opposite the outer surface of the plastic molded part. The clamping element allows good fixing of the plastic molded parts in a very confined space.
Abstract: A combustion system for a power generating gas turbine engine which includes at least a combustion chamber with a annular fuel manifold at one end of the combustion chamber and a passageway having a narrow throat downstream of the fuel manifold whereby air passes around the fuel manifold and mixes with fuel and is diffused through the passageway into the burn zone defined in the combustion chamber in an ultimate location.
Abstract: A paste formulation for dental use, a paste injector, and a system for detecting paste filling are disclosed. The paste formulation includes electric conductive material. The present invention also discloses the system for detecting paste filling comprising a paste injector (1) containing electric conductive paste (D) and an electric conductive member for electrically connecting the electric conductive paste (D) to an external electrode, a current detector (101) for detecting the current flowing through the electric conductive paste (D) reserved in the container portion (1), and a current display device (105) for indicating the current flowing through the electronic conductive paste (D).
Abstract: A discoid and elastic valve is designed to block up the neck of the syringe from inside, in order to close the communication between the syringe's internal main body, where the liquid is, and the needle which is connected in the syringe neck through its plugging cone.

Abstract: An apparatus for pneumatically conveying powder substances in a pipe system, wherein a volume is sucked in with reduced pressure and discharged with increased pressure for being passed further along, characterized in that the apparatus has within the pipe system at least one metering chamber which can be alternately filled and emptied by way of control member for metering the powder substance.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for fabricating biosensors, using hydrophilic polyurethane. Bio-active reagents, including enzymes, antibodies, antigens, cells and receptors, are mixed with hydrophilic polyurethane and the mixture is directly coated over a signal transducer to form a sensing film which serves as a signal detector. The method using hydrophilic polyurethane allows the simplification of the fabrication of biosensors without conducting complicated chemical reactions and washing steps, such as crosslinking. The bio-active reagent entrapped within the hydrophilic polyurethane film can retains its high activity for an extended period of time and the intrinsic potentiometric response of the underlying ion-selective polymeric membrane is not affected by the bio-active reagent immobilized polyurethane film coated on its sensing surface. Therefore, the biosensors are superior in specificity, selectivity, and stability.

Abstract: A screw compressor having balanced axial thrust includes a housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet; a rotor disposed in the housing for receiving low pressure fluid from the inlet and discharging increased pressure fluid from the outlet, the rotor having a discharge end and a motor end; a balance piston arranged to exert a balancing force on the motor end of the rotor; and a conduit for conveying a high pressure fluid to the balance piston so as to exert the balancing force.
Abstract: A method and a device for braking vehicles, in particular race car vehicles at the edge of a racetrack, whereby an elastic, safety wall consisting of individual elements linked together movably like a chain and extending far beyond the critical location is arranged in a clearance adjacent to the critical location of the racetrack. A vehicle coming off the racetrack and colliding with the safety wall is braked by the elastic movement of the safety wall with the vehicle. This inexpensive method of manufacturing a safe safety wall guarantees linear and soft deceleration of a vehicle, greatly improving the safety of the race car drivers.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for repairing components formed from a single crystal nickel based superalloy. The method comprises the steps of applying a repair alloy to at least one portion of a component formed from the single crystal nickel based superalloy and heating the component with the repair alloy thereon to a temperature that avoids recrystallization and repair zone incipient melting of the single crystal nickel based superalloy. Following the heating step, the component is preferably rapidly cooled and subjected to an aging treatment.
Abstract: A convectively-cooled hydraulic fluid tank system comprises a hydraulic fluid tank and a fluid cooler incorporated into the hydraulic fluid tank. The fluid cooler includes a vortex chamber having a wall made of a heat conductive material. An inlet is provided to direct incoming pressurized hydraulic fluid tangentially onto the inner surface of the vortex chamber wall to create a swirled flow of hydraulic fluid against the inner surface of the wall. A cooling structure extends from an exterior surface of the vortex chamber wall to promote heat dissipation.
