  • Patent number: 4520520
Abstract: In a process for mercerizing cellulosic cloth by treating the cloth with 3-10% caustic solution at the boil in a boilout stage, washing the cloth after treatment in the boilout stage and treating the washed cloth with 20-25% caustic in a mercerizer, an improvement comprises the steps of:(a) collecting overflow from the boilout stage, contaminated with additives used in weaving or knitting the cloth;(b) treating the contaminated overflow from the boilout stage by hyperfiltration to produce a recovered fraction of relatively pure caustic solution and a concentrate fraction containing additives used in weaving or knitting the cloth;(c) washing the cloth after treatment in the boilout stage with the recovered fraction of relatively pure caustic from step (b).

  • Patent number: 4497096
Abstract: A tenter frame drive is illustrated wherein auxiliary power operated means are provided to drive the sprockets at the entrance end of the chain runs, opposite the main drive at the exit end. The auxiliary drives remove the slack in the chains which normally occurs at the exit end opposite the point of driving engagement of the sprockets in such a fashion as to avoid chattering of the chain and tenter clips while providing for a division of the forces so as to some extent reduce the maximum tension in the chain, and at the same time insure sufficient tension for proper gripping of the web at the entrance end of the tenter.

  • Patent number: 4495909
Abstract: The invention is designed for use with diesel engine over-the-road trucks and periodically extracts a given quantity of oil from the oil pan of the engine and ejects that quantity into the fuel tank for burning along with the regular fuel. In turn, an automatic oil level sensing device continually senses the level of oil in the engine while the engine is running thus insuring a constant infusion of fresh oil into the engine oil supply thereby effectively changing the oil as the vehicle is operated and removing the need for the discrete oil change operation.

  • Patent number: 4485849
Abstract: A simplified loom beam let off is illustrated which utilizes a brake disc with opposed brake pads for applying uniform tension to the yarn through the loom beam gear. The pads are urged through yieldable force against the disc and such force may be adjusted manually or automatically through sensors responsive to tension in the warp or responsive to size of the build on the loom beam.

  • Patent number: 4485561
Abstract: A process for hanging framed articles utilizing a measuring device which has an elongated support with first and second moveable indicators. The process comprises vertically orienting the elongated support along a wall, moving the first indicator to a position corresponding to the desired placement of the top of the framed item, removing the elongated support from the wall and placing the first moveable indicator on the top of the framed item. The second moveable indicator is moved to a position corresponding to the hanging mechanism of the framed item. The elongated support is then again vertically aligned along the wall and the point for the location of a hanging device is located at the position of the second moveable indicator.
