  • Patent number: 6431252
Abstract: A curtain for a dock shelter that is easily assembled alone and as part of a dock shelter. The curtain includes a sheet that has a pocket mounted thereon. The pocket is adapted to receive a flexible stay and include a slit that inhibits movement of the stay within the pocket. In another aspect, the invention relates to a method of making a curtain. The method includes the steps of securing a pocket to a sheet; forming a slit in the pocket (e.g., by cutting the pocket); inserting a flexible stay into the pocket; and positioning the stay adjacent to the slit. The invention also relates to a method of making a vehicle shelter and mounting the shelter to a loading dock. The method includes the steps of mounting a frame to the loading dock; securing a pocket to a curtain; forming slits in the pocket; inserting a stay in the pocket adjacent to the slit; and placing the curtain against the frame.

  • Patent number: 6386753
Abstract: An adjustable steady bearing support assembly and method provides support for a bearing in rotational contact with a shaft in a vessel such as a mixing vessel. The assembly and method allows axial movement of the bearing along the shaft in response to changes in the radial dimensions of the vessel while providing radial support of the bearing. The assembly employs strut assemblies having pivotally mounted strut pairs with an included angle between the struts in each pair to resist torsional forces on the a bearing.

  • Patent number: 6370719
Abstract: A lip assembly for a dock leveler comprises a substantially flat plate forming a lip, and an integral hinge extending for substantially the width of the lip. The integral hinge in a first embodiment is formed by shaping a plate into an arcuate configuration. The integral hinge has a series of slots to engage the hinge lugs and the hinge is welded to said lip along two edges thereof. In a second preferred embodiment the lip assembly for a dock leveler comprises a substantially flat plate forming a lip, a series of hinge lugs attached to on surface of the plate in a spaced arrangement, and an integral gusset extends for substantially the width of the lip. The integral gusset is coupled to each hinge lug and is welded to the lip along a continuous edge thereof.

  • Patent number: 6357097
Abstract: A hub puller device to simplify the removal of the hub from the wheel bearing on front wheel drive cars when maintenance is required. In the preferred embodiment, the device includes a U-shaped frame, a forcing screw, traveling nut and a pushing piece. A maintenance technician installs the forcing screw to extend through the open cylindrical section of the hub and mounts the pushing piece and the traveling nut on the forcing screw adjacent the cylindrical section. Next, the technician installs the frame to wrap around the spindle housing such that one member abuts the front surface of the spindle housing. The other frame member braces the receiving end of the forcing screw and prevents linear movement of the forcing screw. With the setup completed, the maintenance technician rotates the forcing screw and prevents rotation of the traveling nut.
