Abstract: The present invention relates to use of an antibacterial agent in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of osteoarthritis, more particularly for the treatment of a bacterial infection which is responsible for osteoarthritis. Also described are methods for the diagnosis of osteoarthritis through the detection of certain bacteria in an affected joint of a patient with osteoarthritis.
Abstract: An oscillator assembly includes a first eccentrically weighted rotor having a first eccentric weight configured to rotate about an axis, a second eccentrically weighted rotor having a second eccentric weight configured to rotate about the axis. Rotation of the first eccentrically weighted rotor is coupled to rotation of the second eccentrically weighted rotor. An actuator is configured to vary an angular separation between the first eccentric weight and the second eccentric weight.
Abstract: Provided is a method for inhibiting scale formation within a hydrocarbon producing system, said method comprising contacting said system with a polymer formed from a diallyl ammonium salt, a monomer comprising one carboxylate group and a monomer comprising at least two carboxylate groups or an anhydride group. Also provided are hydrocarbon well treatment compositions and polymers for use in connection with the provided methods. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present invention.
Abstract: A surgical garment (1) has a front portion (2) and a back portion (3) and two sleeves (4). Each sleeve (4) has at least one adhesive region (6) for affixing a donned surgical glove (11) thereto, each such region (6) being covered by a strip (7) of release material being removable from the associated adhesive region (6) in a sterile manner after donning of the surgical glove (11).
Abstract: Provided are methods for determining optimal features for classifying patterns or objects. Also provided are methods for image analysis. Further provided are methods for image searching.

Abstract: A drill bit for core sampling includes a body having a central axis and first end having a tapered outer surface and a radius transverse to the central axis, and an insert having a cutting surface on the first end oriented at an axial angle relative to the radius to move material displaced during drilling away from the first end.
Abstract: Provided are devices for determining the correct aiming point of a low velocity projectile and methods and systems for using the devices. For example, the devices can be attached to a bow and used to improve accuracy for hunting game.
Abstract: An assembly for connecting a sprinkler to a branch line of a fire suppression system includes a flexible conduit having one end attached to the branch line. The opposite end is attached to the sprinkler. An adapter is positioned between the conduit and the sprinkler. A sleeve is positioned surrounding the conduit. The sleeve may have a hexagonal outer surface and rotates freely about the conduit to prevent torque from being applied to the conduit.

Abstract: The present invention comprises systems, methods and devices for the delivery of compositions for occluding or of elements for opening conduits. The implantable occlusive material may be delivered pre-formed or in situ cured and, may be a resorbable or degradable material that supports tissue ingrowth or wound healing or a similar response that replaces the cured occlusive material leaving little or no original occlusive material in place. The delivery system is positioned to allow for placement of the occlusive material into the body conduit. Use of delivery systems, methods and devices for re-opening an occluded body conduit are also included.

Abstract: The invention relates to compositions and methods of treatment using an iron chelator, an antioxidant, estrogen, and/or combinations thereof, optionally, linked to a nanoparticle, to treat a subject in need thereof. The compositions and methods may be used to restore or protect the normal functions of osteoblast and osteoclast by depleting iron and inhibiting oxidative damage. The compositions and methods may also be used to increase the bone formation rate in a subject.
Abstract: High productivity core drilling systems include a drill string, an inner core barrel assembly, an outer core barrel assembly, and a retrieval tool that connects the inner core barrel assembly to a wireline cable and hoist. The drill string comprises multiple variable geometry drill rods. The inner core barrel assembly comprises a non-dragging latching mechanism, such as a fluid-driven latching mechanism that contains a detent mechanism that retains the latches in either an engaged or a retracted position. The inner core barrel assembly also comprised high efficiency fluid porting.
