  • Patent number: 4674231
Abstract: A magnetic door opener device adapted to be positioned below a countertop made of non-magnetic materials, the device having a pair of magnets which attractively interact with a pair of magnets attached to the bottoms of a pair of windows which are suspended on a trolley for movement to or fro to determine closed and opened positions of the window. The device underneath the countertop comprises a pair of spaced toothed sprockets supporting an endless belt having inner and outer runs, the outer run supporting a magnet adapted to magnetically cooperate with a magnet in the bottom of one of the windows, and the other run of the belt supporting a different magnet adapted to attractively cooperate with a magnet in the bottom of the other window. A motor control and limit switches are provided for controlling the opening and closing positions of the windows when a control switch is operated by an operator.

  • Patent number: 4674234
Abstract: In an abrasive tool for grinding or polishing, a grippable shaft is connected to an abrasive disc by means of a cylindrical elastic pad of plastic or rubber. A surrounding cap, preferably a screw cap, is provided, which for stiffening the assembly is adapted to be secured at one end to the abrasive disc and is engageable at its other end by means of an annular shoulder to an annular shoulder of the grippable shaft. Alternatively, the grippable shaft may extend through a cylindrical elastic ring of plastic or rubber, which ring is surrounded to a metal sleeve, which is connected to the abrasive disc and adapted to be tightened by a nut so as to stiffen the tool.

  • Patent number: 4673024
Abstract: A belt-converging type continuous casting apparatus for the continuous production of sheet bar-like cast sheet, wherein a casting space is defined by a combination of a pair of metal belts for supporting broad side planes of the cast sheet arranged opposite to each other with circulatedly moving, and a pair of tapered fixed-type side plates for supporting narrow-side planes of the cast sheet each disposed between the metal belts in intimate contact therewith, and is characterized in that the shape of the side plate is designed so as to satisfy the following relations:d=5-300 mm,D.gtoreq.60 mm,D/d.ltoreq.16,.theta..ltoreq.30.degree..theta.=tan.sup.-1 (D-d/Hto thereby prevent the occurrence of defects in the side planes of the cast sheet, while the metal belt is selected so as to satisfy the following relations:Sy.gtoreq.10,500 t/Dr,0.4.ltoreq.t.ltoreq.2.

  • Patent number: 4673201
Abstract: A connector, for example for connecting pipe sections, comprises a female member having threaded internal circumferential surfaces at each end, for engagement with a pair of male members each of which is provided with a threaded external circumferential surface. Each male member is provided with an annular nose having an axially directed primary sealing surface for sealing abutment with the primary sealing surface of the other male member, and a circumferential secondary sealing surface for sealing against a secondary sealing surface on the female member. The sealing surfaces being initially shaped so that when the noses are initially brought into contact there are progressively widening axial and radial gaps therebetween which are closed by deformation of the noses when the members are fully engaged together.

  • Patent number: 4671043
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an invention that relates to packaging techniques and, in particular, to a process and a device for overwrapping containers and the like that hold edible products needing constant aeration. The technical problem that has to be solved is how to achieve the foregoing without either obstructing the aeration or having to resort to the use of overwrapping nets that are particularly expensive and none too easy to place in position. The solution to the problem is attained through a process for overwrapping containers and the like that hold edible products, and this consists in: reeling a band of film that can be tension deformed, dividing the said band into a plurality of strips placed, one at the side of the other, parallel to the axis of the said reel, and applying tension to the said strips prior to their being placed in contact with the containers to be overwrapped, in such a way as to obtain a shrinkage in width and a set spacing of one strip with respect to the other.

  • Patent number: 4668187
Abstract: A dispenser is disclosed for a controlled discharge of polymerizable compositions consisting of a powder and a liquid in the making of dental plates for prosthodontic and orthodontic purposes in a process in which the liquid is applied to a layer of the powder on a model and the powder and liquid are polymerized on said model. The discharge of the powder and liquid from respective containers is controlled by foot-operable bellows and hand-held nozzles for discharging the powder and liquid, respectively are supplied with the liquid and powder from the containers via hoses.

  • Patent number: 4652220
Abstract: A liquid fuel pumping apparatus for supplying fuel to an internal combustion engine has a rotary distributor member in which is mounted a plurality of pumping plungers which are engaged at their outer ends by cam followers which engage the internal surface of a cam ring. The distributor member is axially movable to vary the quantity of fuel supplied. Each follower includes a roller and a shoe and in order to reduce the amount of material required to produce the cam ring, the rollers are of a length substantially equal to the width of the cam ring and are held against axial movement relative to the cam ring. The shoes are held against axial movement relative to the distributor member. The width of the cam ring and the roller are such that the safe Hertzian stress in the cam ring is not exceeded, the additional width of the cam ring to accommodate the movement of the distributor member in previous designs not being required.
