  • Patent number: 4707405
Abstract: Compositions of the invention comprise an organic film-forming resin and a cyanamide salt of a non-lead metal. The composition, when applied to a thin metallic film, inhibits degradation of the thin metallic film as compared to the composition without calcium cyanamide. Processes comprising the step of applying a composition of the invention to a thin metallic film and articles comprising a thin metallic film and a layer of a hardened composition of the invention are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4634602
Abstract: Compositions of the invention comprise a radiation sensitive compound having ethylenic unsaturation and at least one moiety selected from the group consisting of a urea moiety, a urethane moiety and mixtures thereof, a radiation insensitive compound having a number average molecular weight of at least about 400 comprising at least about 40 percent, by weight, based on the weight of the radiation insensitive compound, of aromatic ring moieties and having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of between about 200 and 1500 and a crosslinking agent reactive with the hydroxyl groups present in said radiation insensitive compound, said crosslinking agent being selected from the group consisting of an aminoplast resin, a blocked isocyanate and mixtures thereof. The composition is capable of being cured using heat and either ultraviolet light or ionizing radiation. A process for applying and curing the composition of the invention on a substrate is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4591518
Abstract: An air oxidizable coating composition is disclosed comprising an ungelled urethane modified alkyd resin containing pendant polymerizable unsaturated groups attached to the alkyd through urethane linkages. The ungelled urethane modified alkyd is the reaction product of components comprising a hydroxyl containing, air oxidizable alkyd resin having an oil length of between about 20 percent and about 70 percent and an isocyanate-functional ethylenically unsaturated compound. Also disclosed are a process for coating the substrate with the coating composition and certain ungelled urethane modified alkyd resins.
