  • Patent number: 4114505
Abstract: A method of providing a protective coating for a metallic object required to retain lubricity notwithstanding prolonged submersion in a deleterious environment such as salt water. The object is first plated with a preselected corrosion-resistant metal. Next, the plating on the object is phosphatized or otherwise processed to improve its bonding capability, and then the object is coated with a fluorocarbon polymer to impart lubricity to the object sought to be protected. In an alternative form of the process, wherein the object is electroplated or otherwise coated with a metal incapable of being phosphatized, the bonding capability of the electroplating is improved by providing it with a matte surface, as by sandblasting or the like, in preparation for the fluorocarbon polymer outer coating.

  • Patent number: 4114327
Abstract: A light fixture support is provided comprising a support bar having slots at the extremities which cooperate with inverted "T" members forming the framework for a conventional suspended ceiling to adjustably locate and secure a light fixture within the framework. The slot configuration defined by the light fixture support permits the enlarged extremity of the upstanding portion of the "T" member to be rotated for insertion within the slot, returned to a vertical position, and retained within the slot. If desired, an adjustable support may be provided for accommodating a variety of "T" member spacings or for compact packaging with a light fixture.

  • Patent number: 4112653
Abstract: A rotary-type lawn mower is provided with cutting means comprised of a rotatable disc-like member having a plurality of flexible non-metallic cords projecting radially from its perimeter. The disc-like member is rotated within the cutting plane by a suitable power source such as a conventional gasoline-driven engine, and at a velocity such that the projecting cords function to sever the grass in a substantially conventional manner. The cords are therefore of a length and diameter which are functionally related to effective cutting and are mounted within the disc-like member in brackets formed to support the cords against vertical as well as lateral deflection resulting from contact with the grass sought to be cut.

  • Patent number: 4110420
Abstract: A porous pipe primarily of rubber and synthetic rubber reclaimed from rubber tires, ground to a relatively small granular size, with metal removed; such as, for example, would pass through a 30-mesh screen, process-mixed through a pipe extruder, with a much smaller binder mix of primarily polyethylene, along with vinyl, ABS binder, and a trace of attaclay. The resulting product is useful as a subsurface irrigation buried pipe, having high structural integrity effectively resisting soil-loading pipe collapse, and it even resists collapse from moderately large rocks in the soil, and yet has a high degree of flexibility along its length. A pipe is provided with cross sectional area of pipe wall more than twice the cross sectional area of the pipe opening.
