  • Patent number: 4940008
Abstract: An A frame mast is pivoted relative to a sailboat hull and supports a lateen yard. A boom is coupled to the yard and to the sailboat hull at the bow. The A frame mast is supported in all positions by struts that lead from each leg of the A frame mast to slidable connections on the hull which permits the mast to be raised and lowered. In other forms, a foldable mast assembly for a sailboat uses a rotatable stub mast and a boom mounted at the upper end thereof. An A frame mast is pivoted relative to the boom and carries a lateen yard that can be raised and lowered by a halyard at the top of the mast structure. To raise and lower the mast, a pair of struts are pivoted thereto and are slidably connected to the sailboat hull or boom so that by using mechanical advantage coupled to the slidable connection, the mast be raised and lowered.

The halves of the collar are made from a laminate having outer layers of a foamed polymeric material and an inner layer of a solid, non-foamed thermoplastic material. The foam layes provide padding and comfort, and the solid layers provide rigidity and support to immobilize the head and neck. In one embodiment there is provided a large hole in the front most portion of the collar to accommodate the Adam's apple. In another embodiment, the strap is attached to the back half by looping it through parallel slots formed in the rearmost portion of the collar which are narrower than the width of the strap adjacent the slots, and attached to the front half by stitching at the ends thereof.

  • Patent number: 4879963
Abstract: A sport fishing seat for fishing boats is provided with a saddle seat and a foot pedal assembly. In one version the foot pedal assembly pivots of the seat support which enables a fisherman to utilize the leg muscles while reeling in a game fish. The foot pedal assembly in that version includes a tubular post which receives the butt end of the fishing rod while at the lower end thereof the pedal portion may be engaged by the feet of the fisherman. This assembly is pivotally mounted on a bracket means extending laterally outward from underneath the seat proper and this enables the fisherman to utilize his leg muscles to greater advantage in playing and landing a game fish. In all saddle seat versions the fisherman has his legs on either side of the saddle seat and is a convenient arrangement for small boats, little space being taken up by the seat and pedestal.
