Abstract: A dispensing closure has a flow conduit that provides a sufficient flow restriction to prevent unwanted spurting of the product when the container is initially opened. The dispensing closure includes a closure body with an upper deck and a flow conduit extending through the upper deck. The flow conduit includes an entry orifice having an entrance axis and an exit orifice having an exit axis. The entrance axis is offset from the exit axis to provide a non-linear flow path from an interior of the closure to the exterior of the closure.

Abstract: An arm support and positioning assembly is provided that includes a vertical member, an engagement member and a horizontal member having one end engaged with the vertical member through a ball joint assembly and the other end affixed with the engagement member through a wedge lock. The engagement member receives and retains a patient's arm support during the surgical or medical procedures. The vertical member is attached to the clamp support assembly affixed with the operating table. The ball joint assembly includes a first hinge plate, a second hinge plate, and a ball joint having an elongated ball neck on one end and a spherical ball on other end. The ball shape end allows the horizontal member to rotate at a varied angular position with respect to the vertical member thereby providing a greater degree of adjustability to the surgeon.
Abstract: A folding rear sight includes a base member and a spring-loaded sight housing that deploys into an operational position with a simple release lever. The sight includes two separate dual-purpose aiming elements, one fixed, and one that rotates between an inactive position and an active position in front of the fixed element. The top aiming end of the fixed aiming element includes a large diameter close quarter battle (CQB) aperture and an vertically extending sighting notch configured and arranged above the large CQB aperture. The top aiming end of the rotatable aiming element includes a smaller, long-range sighting aperture and an elongated vertically extending sighting notch configured and arranged above the smaller sighting aperture. The dual-purpose aiming elements provide standard aperture sights for situations where the soldier has reasonable time to aim the weapon.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for separating aromatic compounds using a simulated moving bed (SMB) operation, characterized by injecting each raw material having a different composition into each different part of an adsorption chamber so as to improve the recovery rate. More specifically, the present invention provides a method for separating aromatic compounds for improving p-xylene separation in a p-xylene separation process, by injecting a high p-xylene mixture from selective toluene disproportionation process (STDP) and low p-xylene mixture from other processes (for example, processes of reformer, isomerization reactor and transalkylation of aromatics having 9 carbon atoms) into each different part of an adsorption chamber.
Abstract: A fluidised bed filter comprises a drying pan, and a filter assembly having a membrane over the pan, and a plurality of openings in the membrane. A filter bag is secured to each aperture by means of a clamping ring attached to the rim of the respective aperture, and cooperating with a clamping band within the cuff of the bag. The material of the bag is clamped between the ring and the band. The ring is covered in a cloth strip, which is folded over to produce a flap, which is stitched between the layers of a double fabric forming the membrane. The band is retained in a tunnel formed by a fold in a double fabric forming the filter bag by stitching.
Abstract: A new apparatus, system and method for fall prevention training is provided that delivers, studies and analyzes the biomechanics of a disturbance event, such as a slip or trip incident, so that an appropriate response can be executed by the person to reduce or eliminate the number of falls experienced. The apparatus includes a platform that delivers a disturbance event in less than about 500 ms and preferably in the range of about 100 ms to about 200 ms. The method includes a unique protocol for fall prevention training using the apparatus.

Abstract: A paintball marker for firing a projectile includes a main body. The main body includes a breech and a feed port connected and a feed tube connected thereto. The main body is originally configured for launching a projectile having a first size. The invention includes a conversion kit to enable a marker to launch projectiles that are smaller than what can be originally launched. A breech insert is positioned within the breech, a feed insert is positioned within the feed port and a replacement barrel, with a smaller diameter bore, are provided to reduce the size of the all conduits within the marker for launching a projectile having a second size that smaller than the first size. The feed insert directly engages the breech adapter to prevent the movement of the breech adapter. Also, connection of the barrel secures the breech insert in place.

Abstract: A dispensing closure has a key-hole shaped flow conduit that provides a sufficient flow restriction to prevent unwanted spurting of the product when the container is initially opened. The dispensing closure includes a closure body with an upper and lower deck, inner and outer skirt, and a flow conduit extending through the upper deck. The outer skirt is configured to mount to a product container. The flow conduit includes including two or more vertically oriented walls and a bottom wall. The bottom wall configured and arranged to be positioned along a horizontal axis. The flow conduit includes one or more entrance orifices having one or more entrance axes and an exit orifice having an exit axis. The entrance axis is stepped or offset from the exit axis whereby the flow conduit provides a non-linear flow path of product from an interior of the closure to an exterior of the closure.

Abstract: The present invention provides a low-cost, easy-to-use, and accurate method and apparatus for determining alcohol content in a test sample, such as wine. The method for alcohol content determination includes the following steps. A known quantity of a test sample is provided. A measurement of electrolytic conductivity EC0 of the test sample is taken. Next, a known quantity of conductive additive with known composition is added to the test sample to produce a first solution. A measurement of Electrolytic conductivity EC1 is taken for the first solution. Data representing predetermined values for EC0 and EC1 with corresponding known alcohol concentrations is provided for comparison. The electrolytic conductivity values for EC0 and EC1 are cross-referenced against the known data to determine a value for the alcohol concentration of the test sample. In addition, the values for EC0 and EC1 are adjusted for temperature and other variables.

Abstract: A device for use in connection with training a dog to retrieve a ball that allows the user to repeatedly launch the ball with a reduced amount of effort while also eliminating the need for the user to physically touch the ball. The device includes a ball receiving portion and a handle that extends outwardly therefrom. The handle includes an integrated treat storage compartment and a dispenser configured to deposit treats onto the ball receiving portion. The user launches the ball and then dispenses a treat onto the ball receiving portion so that upon returning with the ball, the dog can deposit the ball onto the ball receiving portion in exchange for the treat.
Abstract: A mounting platform that includes an annular housing which is received around the barrel of the firearm is configured to include interchangeable electronics modules, such as visible lights, infrared emitters, laser sighting devices, range finders, video cameras, tasers, etc. The accessory mounting platform includes a central aperture for receiving the barrel of the weapon therethrough. The front of the housing includes a faceplate that has a plurality of sockets therein for receiving a plurality of electronic accessory modules. Each of the modules is individually threaded and can be selectively mounted into any of the threaded mounting sockets. Each of the accessory modules is fully interchangeable and can be removed if not needed. The accessory mounting platform is preferably mounted to the bayonet lug and front sight of the weapon.
