Patent number: 6722672Abstract: Disclosed is a wheeled handcart having a removable debris bin, a partition, a ramp for sweeping, raking or otherwise sliding debris into the cart or its bin, and pivotable handles, wherein the cart may be utilized with or without the debris bin, and wherein the cart may be utilized in a vertical or horizontal position. To assist in preventing the debris or other content of the cart from spilling out, a partition is provided that slidably engages within tracks formed on the interior of the cart. When the debris bin is not installed, the partition serves to keep debris and other contents within the cart. Handles are pivotably connected to the cart to allow not only a multitude of advantaged lifting angles, but also the lifting of the handles such that the handles will not interfere with the loading or unloading of the cart. Alternative embodiments provide an opening in the partition for providing access to the debris bin, and an opening, rearward of the cart, useful for the spreading of granular materials.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2002Date of Patent: April 20, 2004Inventors: James L. Patent number: 6516542Abstract: A tilling machine having independently driven wheels and a generally V-shaped plow. Tilling machine comprises digging chain that moves between a raised position and a lowered position, a housing carried by front wheels and rear casters, a motor that drives front wheels to propel housing, a guide wheel that aligns tilling machine with trench upon a second pass, and a generally V-shaped plow, wherein the plow may be positioned on the front or the rear to collect and deposit the dirt surrounding the trench into the trench. A method of gardening/landscaping wherein a trench is dug by a first pass, soil amendments are added to the trench, and then on the second pass, the excavated dirt is plowed back into the trench and mixed with the amendments. A method of gardening/landscaping wherein vegetation cover between trenched rows is maintained thus utilizing only the ground area that is needed for planting.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2001Date of Patent: February 11, 2003Inventor: David McClure

Patent number: 6455123Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, the present invention comprises a layer having carpeted upper surface and/or other rubber-like padding material covered by a translucent, elastomeric sheet. The upper elastomeric layer may have downwardly depending projections that engage the carpeted upper surface of the inner padding layer, thereby reducing the likelihood of the upper elastomeric layer from slipping relative to the inner padding layer. The upper elastomeric layer is sewn or otherwise affixed to the carpeted surface to prevent slipping and creasing of the upper elastomeric layer relative to the padding during use. In addition, in a preferred embodiment for use on carpeted surfaces, the lower elastomeric layer may have downwardly depending projections that engage in the underlying carpet surface to reduce slipping of the device relative to the underlying surface. An overcovering material may be provided to further protect the upper elastomeric layer from excessive soiling.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1999Date of Patent: September 24, 2002Inventor: Ernest B. Poe, Sr.

Patent number: 6443877Abstract: Provided is a weighted cable resistance apparatus, primarily for rehabilitation and therapy, and equally effective for recreational exercising. A frame with a perpendicularly attached seat form a rigid structure. The structure is supported on leveling screws or lockable casters for transport to bed-confined patients. Dead weights within the frame and the rigid seat structure stabilize the apparatus against overturning during use of the apparatus. At each end of the frame is attached a horizontally pivotable assembly, called a ‘module’. Each module contains weights which are, in turn, connected to a cable and to pulleys controlling the cable path. Vertically pivotable arms are mounted on the front of the is modules. The cables are guided to the end of the arms and past the exit pulleys, whereupon exercise tools can be connected. The twin module design provides simultaneous exercising with any two limbs.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2000Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Inventors: Dietrich Hoecht, Fred Bohm

Patent number: 6196074Abstract: Embodiments of a diffusion sampler device and method of use are shown and described, each having a semi-permeable membrane, a top portion having a handle, a nozzle portion, a plug portion, and means to join the assembly together. The diffusion sampler of the present invention is adapted to be provided with a mesh to protect the membrane against abrasion and, further, to accommodate and principally carry the weight of the diffusion sampler and its contents. A novel valve means is also disclosed for use with the diffusion sampler of the present invention. The valve means will carry the specimen from the membrane into a sampling vial or container with a smooth, nearly laminar flow. The diffusion sampler may be provided with attachment means to accommodate such weights and tethers as may be required during use of the device. A separate fill kit is optionally provided for convenience and accuracy in the sampling process.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1999Date of Patent: March 6, 2001Inventor: Bradley P. Varhol
