  • Patent number: 8332978
Abstract: A pillow is provided for the treatment of deformational plagiocephaly. The pillow may have arms which define a void with varying diameters to facilitate holding an infant's head to cause reshaping of the posterior of the skull. An anchoring mechanism may also be included to hold the pillow in place. A webbing may also be used between the arms to encourage the arms to remain against the infant's head and/or to engage a surface on which the pillow rests and limit sliding or the pillow or the infant's head.

  • Patent number: 8256650
Abstract: An extendible garment hanger for clothing items having shoulders of differing widths is provided. The garment hanger includes a body having an upright hook from which a pair of shoulder supports are oppositely laterally downwardly dependent. A pair of extension arms each include a slide section slidably mounted along one of the shoulders supports in a slide bore. The extension arms each have a proximal end with an upright finger tab or loop and a distal end with a downwardly curved end support. The extension arms are manually positionable in a plurality of longitudinal positions along the shoulder supports such that the end supports fit the width of the clothing item. Additionally, the garment hanger may include a clothing support that interconnects the shoulder supports and/or one or more clothing hooks.

  • Patent number: 8161691
Abstract: A precast composite flooring system utilizes girders and floor panels having steel lower structures placed in tension and concrete upper structures places in compression. Openings through a stem wall allow ducts, pipes, and conduits to be run therethrough. The system provides reduced weight over conventional precast or pour in place systems, allowing further reduction in the weight and size of other building components. The floor deck does not use tensioning strands, allowing openings to be formed at nearly any stage of construction and with reduced concern over cutting steel reinforcement. The floor panels and girders bolt together and bolt to a steel column frame, allowing for more efficient assembly.

  • Patent number: 8163023
Abstract: An artificial disc is provided which more closely matches the movement of the natural spine. The artificial disc uses one or more projections and corresponding recesses to provide a sliding articulation. The artificial joint is inherently stable in that compressive forces placed on the disc such as the weight placed upon the joint or the tension of surrounding tissues urges the joint towards a neutral position and not farther away from a neutral position.
