Abstract: A device for comminuting material comprising first and second mating sections. The mating sections when mated form an enclosed interior chamber with the first and second sections capable of movement relative to each other. The first mating section has a first set of a plurality of pins, which extend from a base of the first mating section and into the interior of the chamber. Similarly, the second mating section has a second set of a plurality of pins extending from a base of the second mating section and into the interior of the chamber. The pins from the first mating section interdigitate with the second set of a plurality of pins when the first and second mating sections are mated, wherein movement of the first and second mating sections relative to one another causes comminution of the material when placed in the chamber. The pins have varying cross-sectional shapes including circular, triangular, and hexagonal.
Abstract: The present invention is a boat mooring system for stabilizing a boat while docked which allows the effective length of the mooring line to vary for substantially greater distances than that of the prior art. The boat mooring system contains a multi pulley arrangement such that a small movement in a spring tensioning device results in a substantial change in the effective length of the mooring line. Thus, a change in tide, or weather conditions results in a substantial compensating effect.

Abstract: A method is provided for obtaining fine powders having narrow particle size range from non-conducting solids comprising the steps of: 1) creating an electrostatic charge on particles of a solid mixture formed by mechanical means, 2) grinding the mixture and neutralizing the electrostatic charge during grinding with a potential sufficient to create a corona discharge, 3) separating the powder according to particle size, and 4) collecting the finely ground finished powder product. The method is applicable to the manufacture of high quality cement powders.
Abstract: A germicidal UV chamber for use on air passing through a duct system, such as a central air system which replace one or more sections of the duct and, in essence, becomes part of the duct work. Each chamber is in the form of one or more ellipsoid sections which focus the energy uniformly throughout the chamber. The inlet and exit passages from the chamber are a grill formed from truncated elliptical concentric rings. Also positioned in the chamber is an ultraviolet transparent conduit through which a liquid such as water passes and is also germicidally cleansed. The conduit may very in diameter to retain UV energy in the conduit.
Abstract: A composition for deodorizing and refreshing surfaces such as carpets, upholstery, furniture etc. The composition disclosed is a highly friable foam that rapidly evaporates upon contact with the surface to be refreshed. Therefore, the composition does not require removal by vacuuming after application to the surface. A method for using the composition to deodorize and refresh a surface is also disclosed.

Abstract: A securities trading consolidation system where each customer uses a single trader terminal to view, and analyze security market information from and to conduct security transactions with two or more ECNs, or other comparable ATSs, alone or in combination with one or more electronic exchanges. A consolidating computer system supplies the market information and processes the transactions. The consolidating computer system aggregates order book information from each participating ECN order book computer including security, order identification, and bid/ask prices information. Bid and ask prices for participating electronic exchanges may be integrated into the display. The combined information is displayed to a customer by security and by bids and offers, and then sorted by price, volume and other available attributes as desired by the customer.

Abstract: An apparatus for moving a series of boats loaded with samples into one end of a furnace, testing each sample by heating it to the point where the gases to be analyzed are released and discarding the boat with the remaining ashes, while maintaining the sample and the gasses emitted by the sample free from atmospheric contamination in the furnace. The sample is initially positioned in the furnace by use of a pushing mechanism in the form of a rod driven by a step motor. The boat remain in position after the gasses are driven from the sample, until another sample is introduced. The boat with the new sample pushes the boat with the ashes of the previous sample towards a means for automatic extraction of the boat from the furnace.
