  • Patent number: 5908408
Abstract: A non-reusable retractable safety syringe is provided which has a hollow plunger and a seal member carried thereon. The provision of the plunger and the seal relative to the barrel permits the plunger, with sufficient strength, to carry applied pressure through the device during injection of a medicinal or other fluid into a patient, and yet permit the seal disposed at one end of the plunger to have maximum sealing integrity between the plunger and a cylindrical barrel disposed around the exterior of the plunger, to abate leakage of the liquid in a chamber within the barrel, as the plunger is manipulated from an expanded position to an expended position and thereafter to a third, or collapsed position. Designs for securing the seal relative to the plunger are disclosed. The syringe may be used to insert and/or withdraw fluid relative to the patient.

  • Patent number: 5904415
Abstract: A connector is provided for securing a fluorescent light bulb having a given length into a lighting fixture having spaced apart bulb-receiving members, with the space between the bulb-receiving members being longer than the length of the bulb. The connector also has fluorescent bulb pin openings at one end which receive a lighting bulb pin or pins at one end and connector pins at the other end of the connector for receipt within a companion opening or slots within the bulb-receiving members of the lighting fixture.

  • Patent number: 5834799
Abstract: A semiconductor die is disposed on a side of an optically-transmissive preformed planar structure (interposer), and an optical element is disposed on an opposite side of the interposer. The interposer may be provided with through holes extending at least partially into the die side, and electrical probes in the through holes, for making contact to raised conductive bumps on the die. The interposer may be provided with raised portions for locating the optical element at a predetermined distance away from the die. The interposer may be provided with darkened areas for preventing light from impacting selected areas of the die.

  • Patent number: 5813459
Abstract: An inflatable packer is provided for introduction into a subterranean well bore on a conduit. A pinch can form in the inflatable elastomeric bladder of the packer during inflation or deflation, forming a seal which obstructs the effective passage of pressured fluid, thereby obstructing inflation and deflation of the bladder. Additionally, ribs on the exterior of the bladder can cut into the bladder during nonuniform inflation or deflation of the bladder. The packer provides a series of shape-controllers to cause uniform inflation along the length of the bladder to eliminate these problems.

  • Patent number: 5733470
Abstract: A mold for casting ground covering, such as a plurality of stepping stones, has a generally polygon concrete molding frame having top and bottom surfaces in parallel planes and divided into openings. The frame is generally square and may include nesting polygonal configurations. Each wall has a plan shape of contiguous line segments connected at obtuse angles. A first diagonal wall extends approximately from the first corner to the third corner, and a second diagonal wall extends approximately from the second corner to the fourth corner. The first perimeter wall is geometrically congruent with the third perimeter wall and the second perimeter wall is geometrically congruent with the fourth perimeter wall. The diagonal walls are geometrically congruent with the second and fourth perimeter walls.
