  • Patent number: 5667865
Abstract: A terry fabric and method of forming a terry fabric are provided in which a ground fabric is formed of ground yarns while terry yarns are interlaced with the ground yarns to form terry loops with a height substantially greater than normal (a terry yarn length greater than 4.25 inches per linear inch of ground fabric), the terry yarns being formed of singles yarns plied together with a ply twist lower than normal (ply twist lower than seven (7) turns per inch) and the singles yarns having a lower than normal twist multiple (less than 3.75). The terry fabric is partially mercerized during finishing to soften the fabric, a softener is applied of no more than about 0.4% by weight and a wetting agent is also applied to increase even further the rate of absorbency thereof.

  • Patent number: 5666442
Abstract: A data comparison system includes a database containing target object information which is compared with an individual source object, defined by the user. Computer systems known in the art are utilized to hold the assembled target object database including all information that is available, complete with errors, inaccuracies, and so forth. This database is searched and the computer sorts the information after comparison so that target objects are sorted based on the degree of similarity with the source object. Both target and source objects are defined by object types, components of each object type, subjects of each component, and at least one answer, that is language independent, for each subject. That is, statements may be received and entered in any language and the data derived therefrom, however, is language independent so that the results can be universally applied.

  • Patent number: 5664409
Abstract: A method is described for controlling the tension of an advancing yarn, which is crimped in a friction false twist unit of a false twist crimping machine. In accordance with the method, the tension of the advancing yarn is measured downstream of the friction false twist unit and the yarn tension is converted via a time filter and by comparison with a predetermined desired value into an adjustment signal for correcting the friction false twist unit, the control range being determined by defined limit values of the adjustment signal. The adjustment signal is a current value and is corrected adaptively via a PI controller, the control behavior of which takes into account the quotient from the change of the yarn tension and the change of the current value of the adjustment signal.

  • Patent number: 5665043
Abstract: A godet for heating and advancing yarns which includes a stationary support member and a rotatable member which includes a heatable godet jacket. The temperature of the godet jacket is measured by means of temperature sensors, the output signals of which are transmitted by induction from the rotatable member to the stationary member. The godet is provided with an electronic memory, which is connected with the temperature sensors and stores the data supplied by the temperature sensors. The memory is connectible to a data transmission unit, and the data are transmitted by induction between a stationary primary coil and a rotating secondary coil, which also provides the supply of voltage to the rotating member. In this conjunction, it is possible to transmit the data both from the rotating member to the stationary member of the godet and from the stationary member to the rotating member.

  • Patent number: 5662591
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the strength of and for performing physical therapy exercises to strengthen a patient's limb. The device includes a pair of pivot clamps each having a end for connecting the pivot clamps to a solid object such as a physical therapy table or hospital bed. A second end of each pivot clamp adjustably receives a first frame member of a conventional traction or load frame. This arrangement enables rotational and translational movement of the first frame member retained by the pivot clamp relative to each pivot clamp to allow the frame to be positioned in a desired location and orientation relative to the patient's limb to be tested. A second frame member is adjustably connected to the pair of first frame members by a pair of adjustable brackets. A limb engaging member having a force transducer located therein is used to both engage the patient's limb to be tested and to detect a force transmitted between the limb of a patient and the limb engaging member.

  • Patent number: 5664207
Abstract: Information is automatically shared among a plurality of remote/mobile data processing nodes which are temporarily and intermittently linked to a data processing server by distributing an information form to users corresponding to first remote/mobile nodes. A user may complete the form to create an instance of the form and define an instance distribution list. The instance is automatically distributed to users corresponding to the distribution list. As owner of the form, the user may also modify the form, and these modifications are also automatically distributed to the users at the third node. A second form may be linked to the form and automatically distributed to the third nodes as well. When distributing a file to a node, any other files which are required are also automatically distributed.

  • Patent number: 5660382
Abstract: Process for operating a piece-goods transporting apparatus such as printed products wherein the products which are fed individually one after the other are received at a receiving position by transporting members circulating in a continuously guide of the transporting apparatus. They are then conveyed via a buffer section to a discharge position. In this arrangement, the transporting members are each retained at the receiving position until a product has been received, thereby ensuring that each transporting member leaves the receiving position with a received product. The transporting members run through the discharge position periodically in cycles and discharge a product to the processing section in each cycle.
