  • Patent number: 4773431
Abstract: An intra-amniotic loop catheter which allows direct access to a free floating segment of the umbilical cord for direct blood sampling. The loop catheter is formed of a flexible, resilient material with a distal, hook shaped end which may be straightened by an insertion or a removal tool but which returns to a hook shape when released. The hook is adapted to be oriented around a free floating section of the umbilical cord to allow insertion of a blood sampling needle into the umbilical cord through an opening in the proximal region of the hook.

  • Patent number: 4728093
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically stacking battery plates and separators is disclosed. Battery plates and separators elements are alternately and automatically combined on a conveyor belt to form sandwiches wherein a plurality of such sandwiches are later assembled for use in battery cells. Prior to combining the elements, the plates and separators are arranged in respective chutes for access by pivotably mounted vacuum pickup heads, which cycle between the chutes and the conveyor belt. The vacuum pickup heads capture the topmost elements in the chutes irrespective of the height at which the plates and separators may be stacked therein. In order to access the elements within the chutes, a jet sensor is provided with the pickup head that acts as a proximity detector. When vacuum is not being utilized for pickup purposes, it is utilized in an environmental mode where it is used to remove lead dust and particles around the stacking area.

  • Patent number: 4702025
Abstract: A display frame for a sign, poster, or the like. The frame comprises a plurality of frame sections each comprising a rear structure, a front structure, and tensioned spring means. The rear structure has a cylindrically shaped portion and an opposing channel spaced therefrom, while the front structure comprises a forward panel portion and a semi-circularly shaped portion, and with the latter being rotatably mounted on the cylindrical portion of the rear structure to thereby permit movement of the front structure from an open to a closed position. A spring means is disposed between the channel and the cylindrical portion of the rear structure, with the end thereof adjacent the cylindrical portion being circularly shaped. Said end biases against the leading edge of the semi-circularly shaped portion of the front structure when said structure is in the closed position, and against the solid section of the semi-circular portion when the front structure is moved toward or maintained at the open position.

  • Patent number: 4696830
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for preparing a water-proof sheet by forming a polymer coating on both the surfaces of a fibrous substrate fabric. At first, the fibrous substrate fabric is treated with a water repellant, and both the surfaces are subjected to the low temperature plasma treatment or corona discharge treatment. Then, a polymer coating is formed on both the surfaces. According to this process, the peel strength of the polymer coating is improved and the water absorbing property is reduced substantially to zero. If an inorganic fiber substrate fabric is treated according to this process, the bending resistance is highly improved in the resulting water-proof sheet.

  • Patent number: 4695498
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a low bulk pin-type seam for use with the flat woven fabric. The preferred fabric is woven with continuous or monofilament yarns in the machine direction. The seam is formed by interconnecting loops constructed from the machine direction warp yarns. In constructing the seam loops, a portion of the fabric is made free of cross machine direction yarns and the warp yarns are selected out as either a loop forming yarn or as binder yarns. The fabric is then folded back upon itself in hem like fashion with the selected yarns being retained as loop forming yarns and the binder yarns being drawn back through the hem portion of the fabric to bind the hem and body portion of the fabric. If desired, a stitch pattern may be added to further secure the hem area.
