  • Patent number: 7734442
Abstract: The apparatus for a test and measurement instrument consists of multiple integrated circuits with each integrated circuit being connected to its own memory controller. At least one of the integrated circuits is a specialized integrated circuit, which may be a graphics processing unit, a digital signal processor, or a field-programmable gate array. Each memory controller is connected to its own memory. The integrated circuits are connected in a circular arrangement by multiple high-speed interconnects. A bridge is connected to at least the first and last integrated circuits. A system bus connects the bridge to an acquisition module. The acquisition module has a signal bus interface with the system bus being connected to the acquisition module and having its own acquisition hardware. The acquisition hardware is a direct memory access machine that can transfer data to any portion of the memory. There is a signal source connected to the signal bus interface.

  • Patent number: 6672894
Abstract: A cable assembly includes a cable having a core surrounded by a sheath. A cone element has an interior bore receiving the cable core, and has a tapered exterior surface. At least a portion of the cone is received within the cable sheath. A cup has a tapered bore receiving the sheath and the core. A portion of the sheath is captured between the exterior of the cone and the interior of the cup bore. Tension applied to the cable with respect to cup generates compression of the sheath between the cone and cup, and tension is thus transmitted by the sheath without application of radial force to the core. The sheath may include a strength member such as a braided metal wrap, and an elastic jacket, so that the wrap bears the tension, and the jacket returns the sheath to its normal length upon cessation of tension.

  • Patent number: 6366683
Abstract: A system and method of generating an image analysis report relating to an image of a subject. The method includes querying a user for an image description providing locational information regarding the image, querying the user for a physical description providing locational information regarding the subject, and querying the user for a finding description providing selected characteristics of the image. A description set including the user's responses to the queries is stored and processed to generate the report. Any of the querying steps may include providing the user with a limited set of entry options, and some of the entry may be by selecting a location on a graphical map. A second description set relating to a different image of the same or a different subject may also be entered, and the user may be queried for information relating to a causal link between the description sets. A user may be queried for a confidence level of any observation or conclusion.

  • Patent number: 5691756
Abstract: A media preheater positioned in the media path of a printer and having a fixed heater and a movable plate array biased toward the heater such that printing media passing between the heater and the plate array is compressed therebetween and heated. The preheater may be positioned upstream of a print head and downstream of a media advancing mechanism in the media path. More than one plate may be provided in the plate array to accommodate non-planarity of the heater or the printing medium. The plate array may be a thermally massive element that contacts the heater when no media is present, thereby permitting the medium to be heated from both sides.
