    Abstract: An apparatus for the removal and replacement of a lid on a metallurgical transport vessel such as a ladle or a torpedo car. The apparatus comprises a frame, means for supporting the frame such that the vessel may be moved into position thereunder, a linkage including at least one lifting member pivotally connected to the frame, and at least one actuator connected to the linkage. The actuator is operable to move the lifting member such that when the vessel is moved to a designated position below the apparatus, the lifting member can be moved by the actuator and linkage from a first position providing clearance above the vessel, through a curved path to an intermediate position where it engages the lid, providing a vertical lifting force and a horizontal hinge releasing force to the lid, and to a second position where the lid is raised to a sufficient height to clear the vessel.

    Abstract: Various embodiments for components and associated methods that can be used in a binaural speech enhancement system are described. The components can be used, for example, as a pre-processor for a hearing instrument and provide binaural output signals based on binaural sets of spatially distinct input signals that include one or more input signals. The binaural signal processing can be performed by at least one of a binaural spatial noise reduction unit and a perceptual binaural speech enhancement unit. The binaural spatial noise reduction unit performs noise reduction while preferably preserving the binaural cues of the sound sources. The perceptual binaural speech enhancement unit is based on auditory scene analysis and uses acoustic cues to segregate speech components from noise components in the input signals and to enhance the speech components in the binaural output signals.

The hydraulic motor is hydraulically connected to the accumulator to receive hydraulic fluid. The motor is adapted to drive a second hydraulic pump, which is hydraulically connected to the auxiliary system, using hydraulic energy stored in the accumulator.

A source of motive power and a transmission system drive the main deck to revolve within the housing, and also drive the pallets to rotate relative to the main deck. The transmission system constrains rotational movement of the pallets relative to the main deck and causes each pallet to be oriented with its stopping member positioned opposite the aperture whenever that pallet is aligned with the aperture. The oven has a control system that monitors the length of time that an item remains in the oven, permitting items having different cooking times to be cooked simultaneously, even when introduced in a random order.

    Abstract: An aeration system for a submerged membrane module has a set of aerators connected to an air blower, valves and a controller adapted to alternately provide a higher rate or air flow and a lower rate of air flow in repeated cycles. In an embodiment, the air blower, valves and controller, simultaneously provide the alternating air flow to two or more sets of aerators such that the total air flow is constant, allowing the blower to be operated at a constant speed. In another embodiment, the repeated cycles are of short duration. Transient flow conditions result in the tank water which helps avoid dead spaces and assists in agitating the membranes.

A suction is applied to lumens of the membranes via the permeate port to withdraw permeate. A gas is directed to provide bubbles which contact the membranes. Feed water is added so that the membranes are immersed while applying the suction.

Production in seeds offers flexibility in storage and shipment of insulin as a raw material, and insulin retains its activity upon extraction from stored seed. Further, the amount of biomass subjected to extraction is limited, due to the relatively low water content of plant seeds.
