  • Patent number: 7519132
Abstract: A reduced complexity precoder provides an efficient method and structure to precode a vector-signal-point sequence for transmission through a band-limited channel. The precoder enables a block-oriented receiver to recover an underlying data stream in the presence of inter-symbol interference and noise. The precoder structure is applicable to multicarrier systems such as DMT (discrete multitone) or related transform domain and vector communication systems. The inventive precoder reduces the cost of precoding by an order of magnitude and eliminates the need for a cyclic prefix in DMT and related communication systems. Related multicarrier transmitter and receiver structures and methods which reduce computation, increase transmission bandwidth and reduce transmission power are also developed.

  • Patent number: 7508777
Abstract: A network based communication system allows a communication connection that carries voice data using packetized IP telephony protocol to be established via a wireless local area network access point by sending a user address to a remote database server. The database server converts the user address to an Internet address and informs the wireless handset of an active Internet address to be used to complete the call. In some embodiments the user address is a telephone number that can also be used to reach the user using the public switched telephone network. Other types of media are also supported like digital pictures, digital video, data conference sessions, and application sharing sessions.

  • Patent number: 7352262
Abstract: A cancellation circuit to remove the anti-resonance signal from a resonator. Micro-mechanical and surface and bulk acoustic wave resonators include an anti-resonance in an output signal. This has an undesirable effect on certain types of systems in their function and performance. An anti-resonance cancellation circuit removes the anti-resonance from the output of the resonators by providing a signal which is subtracted from the output of the resonator. The cancellation circuit includes a capacitor which is matched to the static capacitance of the resonator. The loads of the resonator and cancellation network are also matched.

  • Patent number: 7262365
Abstract: A mechanism for confining a flat flexible cable of an image scanner in position is provided. The flat flexible cable is electrically connected between a circuit board and a carriage and bends differentially with the movement of the carriage relative to the circuit board under a scanning platform. The mechanism includes a confining member disposed between a first portion of the flat flexible cable and the scanning platform for isolating the flat flexible cable from the scanning platform. The confining member changes states and bends differentially with the movement of the carriage relative to the circuit board under the scanning platform, and has a bending resistance greater than that of the flat flexible cable. Accordingly, the confining member is kept at least a certain clearance from the scanning platform while confining the first portion of the flat flexible cable thereunder.
