  • Patent number: 5094059
Abstract: A hinged building truss, such as a roof truss, includes elongated wooden structural members connected by a double hinge joint. The joint has a central elongated flat plate having first and second pivots located toward respective ends of the elongated plate. First ends of first and second flat plates overlap first and second ends of the central flat plate and rotate in the plane of the plates at the first and second pivots, respectively. The first and second plates each include a plurality of teeth, struck from second end areas of each plate, for fastening each plate to a face of a structural member to be pivoted. The structural members can thus be rotated about the pivots. The length of the elongated plate between the overlapping portions of the first and second plates is sufficient to accommodate sheet sheathing attached to each of the structural members when the double hinged joint is in folded position with the structural members substantially parallel and adjacent to each other.

  • Patent number: 5076018
Abstract: The device (D) for easily assembling and disassembling slidable doors (A1, A2) to and from a piece of furniture (M), comprises a body (5) fitted with a door-sliding wheel (7), which is associated with the lower side of a horizontally slidable door (A1, A2), by being connected thereto through a clamp member (1), which is secured to the projecting free end of a door-supporting member (S3, S4), which in turn is fastened to the lower side of the respective door (A2, A2). The said body (5) is swingable about pivot (4) extending parallel to the door lower side, so that by being caused to swing upwardly, this body is angularly moved from a horizontal rest position to an upright operative position, and the same is thus preferably automatically inserted into the respective door-guiding, channel-shaped rail (B3, B4), as a result of parts of the said body (5) being caused to cooperate with the respective rail (B3, B4), or with lower stationary parts of a piece of furniture (M).

  • Patent number: 5074141
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for press-forming workpieces and a bolster apparatus for the same. The process employs a first bolster apparatus comprising a die holding portion and a transfer, and a second bolster apparatus comprising a die holding portion and a transfer. The process comprises the steps performed sequentially: an exchanging step of removing the first bolster apparatus from a bolster mounting portion of a pressing apparatus and mounting the second bolster apparatus to a bolster mounting portion of the pressing apparatus, thereby exchanging the first bolster apparatus with the second bolster apparatus; and a press-forming step of press-forming second workpieces with the second dies held in the second bolster apparatus by operating the pressing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5075531
Abstract: An electric resistance welding method for welding zinc plated steel plates. The zinc plated steel plates having at least one surface covered with a plating layer composed of mainly zinc can be welded by the present invention efficiently while overlapping said plating layers, because a material for increasing the resistance between the zinc plated steel plates is employed in the present invention, and it is either spreaded, coated or bonded on the surface of said plating layers to be joined beforehand. Thus, the electric resistance of zinc plated steel plates can be performed by a lower electric current in a shorter time without deteriorating the anti-corrosion property of zinc plated steel plates, because the electric resistance between the steel plates has been increased by such a material.

  • Patent number: 5073267
Abstract: In this process a percolation of supercritical gas through the starting material is conducted, the carbon dioxide loading with extractable compounds, then, when the percolation pressure reaches a predetermined value, the percolation medium is let down, feeding the latter into a separation zone in which the volatile compounds are trapped in the solid carbon dioxide formed, these compounds being recovered in aqueous solution after sublimation of CO.sub.2. According to the invention, the extraction is conducted, in the separation zone, in the presence of a trapping medium suitable for retaining the volatile compounds, advantageously a medium which has very low solubility in liquid or supercritical CO.sub.2 and is capable of dissolving the volatile compounds (glycerol or edible oil) or of complexing these (cyclodextrins). The starting material chosen has a lipid content which is not excessively high (especially fruits and derived products).

  • Patent number: 5066315
Abstract: A cyclone separator has a filter unit which is disposed inside a central outlet between an inlet chamber of the cyclone separator (for gas mixed with dust) and an outlet chamber thereof (for clean gas) connected to a suction source. A method is provided for cleaning such a cyclone separator by momentarily establishing a connection between the outlet chamber and the atmosphere. The communication between the inlet chamber and the suction source being maintained, to initiate a rapid pressure rise in the outlet chamber and thus a reverse gas flow through the filter unit. The outlet chamber of the cyclone separator has a valve controlled aperture for connecting the outlet chamber to the atmosphere, a closure member of the valve being biased to a closed position by existing pressure difference between the outlet chamber and the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 5067133
Abstract: Deterioration of the image as a result of failure of individual memory cells is avoided by storing, together with the data relating to each line of the image field, a code value computed as a function of the value of each data bit in the line and the position of each bit in the line. A picture signal stored in this way may be reproduced by transmitting each line signal to a function generator (15), adder (16) and accumulator (17) to re-compute a code value by the same function utilized during the storage of the signal, and applying the stored code value to a latch (21). The outputs of the accumulator (17) and latch (21) are applied to a subtracting circuit (25), and when the latter produces any output signal other than zero, the value of such signal will indicate both the position of any single faulty bit and the direction in which the stored value is in error.

  • Patent number: 5064294
Abstract: Gelling of a liquid or liquefication of a gel are investigated or controlled by differential measurement of thermal characteristics of the involved medium. The temperature of the medium is measured by a first probe (delivering a first temperature indicating signal) while a second probe (sufficiently far away from the first probe not to disturb the latter through temperature changes) imparts heat to said medium and delivers a signal corresponding to its temperature. The signals respectively emitted by the probes are processed in an electrical data processing unit wherein the signals are combined in a correcting stage which corrects the signal delivered by the second probe taking into account the signal delivered by the first probe to deliver information indicating the change of state of the medium.

  • Patent number: 5062250
Abstract: An insulating panel system, for roof or wall use, includes adjacent insulating panels joined by a connector. The panels include first and second skins adjacent and in contact with opposite faces of an insulating foam core. The first and second skins each terminate in an elongated C-shaped edge. A connector for joining adjacent panels includes an elongated T-shaped channel and an elongated I-shaped channel, for receiving the C-shaped elongated edges of the first and second skins of adjacent panels, and a sheet member joining the T-shaped channel and the I-shaped channel. The foam core is cut away around the C-shaped elongated edges and the remainder of the foam core abuts the sheet member of the connector when the panels are joined. The I-shaped channel and the T-shaped channel each terminates in an elongated lip for retaining the C-shaped elongated edges of the first and second skins. Alternatively both channels may be T-shaped or both channels may be I-shaped.
