  • Patent number: 5598921
Abstract: A one-piece molded plastic computer workplace organizer can be screwed to a baseplane such as a pull-out keyboard shelf of a computer desk. A mouse pad is located to the front of the organizer unit which provides a passageway for retaining the mouse cord in place so as to overcome the common problem of the mouse unit working its way to the rear and falling off the shelf edge, especially when the shelf is being pulled out. Storage for several 31/2" diskettes is provided with asymmetrical bistable support positioning: a nearly upright rearwardly-inclined working position and a low profile forwardly-inclined storage position. With the organizer mounted on the pull-out keyboard shelf, upright diskettes will be automatically flipped forward to the low profile position by the shelf edge for storage under the desk counter top when the shelf is pushed back into the storage position.

  • Patent number: 5594468
Abstract: A method and optical system auxiliary input calibration arrangement accurately and reliably discriminate between a user generated image and a video source generated image, such as one produced by a computer. The calibration arrangement includes amplifier devices for increasing the strength of a video information signal indicative of the video generated image, and a user generated auxiliary input signal indicative of an auxiliary input light image, without increasing spurious ambient light signals. A discrimination circuit generates a detection signal whenever the amplified information signals are greater than a predetermined reference level signal. A microprocessor calculates the appropriate predetermined reference level signal based upon ambient lighting conditions, the strength of that portion of the information signal indicative of the video image, the type of optical system and the distance the optical system is disposed away from a viewing surface.

  • Patent number: 5587191
Abstract: A process for making highly oxygenated drinking water includes initially preparing a stabilized hydrogen peroxide solution, and then adding a suitably small quantity of it to natural drinking water. The stabilized hydrogen peroxide solution is made by adding a complex polymer in the form of polyvinylpyrrolidone to a quantity of diluted hydrogen peroxide. Various different molecular weight compositions of polyvinylpyrrolidone are added at different times according to a preferred technique.

  • Patent number: 5575027
Abstract: The method of supporting the chest and abdomen areas of a person laying in a supine position includes applying pressure to one side of the chest or abdomen with a body engaging member. Similarly, pressure is applied to the other side of the chest or abdomen with another body engaging member to provide sufficient oppositely directed force to the chest or abdomen areas for providing lateral support thereto. The application of the pressure to both sides of the chest or abdomen is maintained, thereby restraining the chest or abdomen between the opposing body engaging members. A further embodiment includes applying pressure to the lower abdomen with a strap member coupled between a pair of upright members, and maintaining the application of the pressure thereon with a buckle.

  • Patent number: 5558235
Abstract: An audio/video media package storage structure is formed using side rails, partition rails and spacer tubes. The side rail inner surface contains: a bottom flange; a row of interleaved long and short posts; a shelf beneath the posts and above the bottom flange, the shelf having notches centered between adjacent long posts. The rail can support packages of up to three different sizes at one time. Thin packages are supported between adjacent long and short posts and rest on the shelf. Thick packages are supported between adjacent long posts and rest on the bottom flange. Medium-sized packages fit within the notch on the shelf and rest on the bottom flange. The shelf and the bottom flange have protuberances centered between adjacent long and short posts and adjacent posts, respectively, to allow the packages to shift from a forwardly to a rearwardly-oriented display position. Each end of the side rail has a tunnel adjoining the bottom flange for inserting a spacer tube.

  • Patent number: 5555002
Abstract: A new and improved display control system which includes a logic arrangement for causing a displayed image indicative of a portion of a corresponding larger image to be displayed upon an input command from a user. A line control circuit responsive to user input commands enables the displayed image to be shifted visually from a current visualization position, up or down, row by row for line pan visualization of corresponding portions of the larger image. A pixel control circuit also responsive to user input command enables the displayed image to be shifted visually from a current visualization position right or left, column by column, for column pan visualization of corresponding portions of the larger image. The line control circuit and the pixel control circuit operate independently of one another or in combination with one another to achieve any desired panning effect.

  • Patent number: 5550735
Abstract: A compiling system which can mass produce individually customized media, such as videotapes in a highly efficient and cost effective manner. High volume production is realized by matrixing synchronized system resources, such as videodisc players, videocassette recorders, and graphic generator units. The resources are managed using a predetermined client/server model of computing over a local area network. The resources are synchronized by supplying all time dependent system nodes with the same time base criteria, which in turn, is also utilized to synchronize non-time dependent resources.

  • Patent number: 5543819
Abstract: A method and system for producing a finely textured display image of a gradation of high color resolution color shading. The high color resolution system is adapted to be coupled to a relatively inexpensive high speed active matrix display panel employing single-bit LCD drivers and a plurality of sub-pixel elements. The system includes a sub-pixel activation circuit for generating single-bit digital signals for driving individual ones of the sub-pixel elements. A duty cycle circuit arrangement controls the sub-pixel activation circuit to cause desired ones of the sub-pixel elements to be activated selectively an average number of times over a large number of consecutive frame time intervals to generate sub-pixel images having desired perceived color shading levels.

  • Patent number: 5541646
Abstract: The display device image stabilization apparatus is utilized in a display system having a frame buffer coupled to a display device. The apparatus includes a sampling arrangement coupled to the frame buffer for sampling input video data to generate a display signal, wherein the display signal is stored temporarily in the frame buffer as buffer information. A control device is coupled to the frame buffer for comparing the buffer information with reference information to determine whether the buffer information and the reference information are similar to one another. The control device generates a gain adjustment signal when the buffer information and the reference information are different from one another. Coupled between the control device and the sampling arrangement is a phase lock loop circuit for varying the display signal in response to the gain adjustment signal.

  • Patent number: 5517263
Abstract: An image projection system includes a bright light source of polarized light, and in one form of the invention, a spatial light modulator, having an alignment layer, to modulate the polarized projection light, wherein the bright polarized light source is aligned with the alignment layer to permit the polarized light to pass therethrough without the need for unwanted light blocking polarizers. The spatial light modulator generates output light representative of the image, which is projected by a projection lens system onto a remote viewing surface to form a bright image thereon. In another form of the invention, three different colored images are each produced by three separate polarized light sources illuminating three individual light valves, and are superimposed to produce a full color image while all three light sources are maintained fully activated to provide a brightly illuminated image.
