Abstract: Hot melt adhesive compositions containing amine and acid terminated polyamide resins, optionally curable when combined with epoxy resins, wherein the amine component of the polyamide resin contains (i) 1,2-diaminopropane, (ii) a piperazine-containing diamine, and optionally, (iii) polyetherdiamines; the polyamide resins may be acid or amine terminated, and are characterized by having an acid plus amine number of up to 40, preferably up to 30, and more preferably up to 20; the adhesive compositions are useful in a number of applications and have good strength while exhibiting flexibility and low tackiness.

Abstract: A flavor enhancing composition including benzyl benzoate and neryl acetate is provided in accordance with the invention. The flavor enhancing composition can be provided in either solid, i.e. powder, or liquid form and is used to enhance the flavor of mints, gums, candy, oral hygiene products and the like.

Abstract: A jelly-type substance incorporating a water-insoluble color is provided. The colored jelly-type substance can be incorporated in a liquid composition having an acidic pH between about 2.5 and 6.0 and the color will remain incorporated in the jelly-type substance. A liquid composition including the jelly-type substances and a method for incorporating the water-soluble colors in the jelly-type substance are also provided.

Abstract: A method for suspending inclusions in an acidic or alcoholic liquid composition is provided. The method includes the steps of preparing a pre-gel solution including gellan gum in water, providing a liquid composition having inclusions, and incorporating the pre-gel solution into the liquid composition. Alternatively, the liquid composition can be provided without inclusions and the inclusions may be added after the pre-gel solution is incorporated into the liquid composition. Upon standing, the pre-gel solution will cause the inclusions to suspend in the liquid composition. Acidic or alcoholic liquid compositions having suspended particulates or inclusions are also provided.

Abstract: A starter corner for use in constructing a shingled roof is provided. The starter corner is adapted to be positioned in the corner of a roof during construction for the purpose of preventing ice formation and backup damage to the finished roof.

Abstract: Flavor emulsions prepared by encapsulating a flavoring agent in leucaena gum are disclosed. The flavor emulsions can be used to prepare beverages in accordance with the invention.

Abstract: A brow shaver including a handle portion and a blade complex portion is provided. The blade complex portion includes a lower holding member, a blade member, and an upper holding member. Provision is made for the flow of cut hair away from the cutting edge of the blade when the shaver is in use, thereby allowing for safe, convenient and easy operation.

Abstract: An apparatus and process for sterile disposal of used syringes is provided. The apparatus includes a heat conductive container for maintaining used syringes and a means for applying heat to the heat conductive container in an amount sufficient to melt the plastic of the syringes. The melted plastic can encapsulate the non-plastic portions of the syringe and form a molten mass. The molten mass is rendered sterile by the heat. The process for sterile disposal of used syringes in this manner is also provided.
