Abstract: A thermostat has a frame having a valve seat, a rod secured to the frame, a guide member slidably mounted on the rod, and a valve secured to the guide member. On the rod, atubular sealing member is slidably mounted. The sealing member has a tubular body, a base portion, a closed head portion, and a plurality of annular grooves or annular projections formed in an inner wall of the body. The base portion is secured to the guide member, and the head portion is engaged with an end of the rod.
Abstract: A process for improving the processability of a coating composition for paper and paper substitutes in which the composition contains at least one undissolved finely divided inorganic substance, organic substance, or mixture of such substances in a system comprised mainly of water, wherein the process comprises mixing into said system about 0.05 - 5.0 percent by weight of at least one dispersing agent consisting essentially of a polymer derived from specified units containing carboxyl, carboxylate, carbonyl and/or hydroxyl groups. A coating composition is provided.

Abstract: An endodontic instrument for treating a pulp canal includes a handle portion adjustably mounted in telescoping relation on the shaft of an elongated working tool, with cooperating grooves in the shaft and handle preventing relative movement therebetween during use of the instrument. Means are provided for quickly and accurately adjusting the working length of the tool projecting from the handle and for quickly and reliably interlocking the tool and handle in the desired adjusted relationship with the end of the handle acting as a positive stop limiting the depth of penetration of the working tool portion during use of the instrument.
Abstract: A pigmentary composition prepared by coating metallic particles of pigment by means of a polymer or copolymer, by covering the polymerization or copolymerization "in situ" of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer having at least one oxygen or nitrogen heteroatom, and having a mono- or di-carborylic acid function, or an ester, nitrile or amide function or an N-substituted amide function, or an amine, alcohol or ether function, wherein the polymerization or copolymerization reaction is effected in a medium comprising at least one organic solvent in which the monomer is soluble and in the presence of at least one polymerization catalyst soluble in this medium, the monomer and the proportion thereof being selected so that the polymer or copolymer formed is insoluble in the organic solvent used.

Abstract: Process for dyeing or printing synthetic or artificial hydrophobic textile fibers in an aqueous medium with a 1:1 premetallized dyestuff complex of monocationic character of a transition metal, the cationic part of which dyestuff does not contain an ionized group (dyestuff (I)), in which the fibers are treated at a temperature at least equal to 80.degree. C. with a complexing agent (III), sparingly soluble in water and not containing an ionized group and more soluble in the fiber than in the aqueous dyeing medium of pH from 3 to 7, and with the premetallized dyestuff (I), the complexing agent being capable of fixation on the metal of the premetallized dyestuff with liberation of a proton, and synthetic or artificial hydrophobic textile fibers dyed or printed by such process.
Abstract: Dyestuffs of the general formula: ##STR1## IN WHICH THE RADICAL --CH=--CN is fixed in the 4- or 5-position, X represents a hydrogen or chlorine atom, the benzene nucleus A is unsubstituted or substituted by at least one chlorine atom or alkyl, alkoxy or acylamino group, m is the number 0 or 1, and B represents the residue of a coupling compound containing no sulphonic or carboxylic acid group. The dyestuffs in which m represents zero may be prepared by diazotizing a base of the formula: ##STR2## and coupling the diazo derivative with a coupling compound BH wherein X and B have the same significance as set out above. The dyestuffs in which m is equal to 1 may be prepared by coupling the diazo derivative of a base of the formula: ##STR3## with an amine of the formula: ##STR4## diazotizing the amino-monoazo dyestuff thus obtained and coupling with a coupling compound BH wherein ##STR5## have the same significance as set out above. The dyestuffs may be used for the coloration of synthetic fibres.
