  • Patent number: 5868981
Abstract: This invention concerns an injection moulding process for soles in expansible and cross-linking "EVA" based compounds characterised in that during the cooling stage of the moulded sole the spontaneous shrinkage of the same is arrested by means of a template consisting of a rigid shaped plate placed on the sole so that its edge connects with a perimeter edge realised specifically on the upper surface of the sole, whose dimensions reduce no further either during the remaining cooling phase of after cooling.

  • Patent number: 5866721
Abstract: A process for separating the product gas mixture from the catalytic synthesis of methyl mercaptan. Because of improved separation of the product gas mixture into its components, less hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan are lost in discharging the inert gases than in the known process. The inert gases can be burned without after-treatment of the exhaust gas. Likewise, the process water that is discharged is less contaminated with polysulfides.

  • Patent number: 5864797
Abstract: A speech coder using a pitch synchronous innovation code excited linear prediction (PSI-CELP) speech coding system. The speech coder is capable of representing a portion which is not sufficiently represented by an adaptive codebook in a periodic portion of input speech and capable of improving the quality of reproduced speech. The periodicity corresponds to the pitch cycle of input speech by preliminarily reproducing speech from simple impulse trains. The speech coder depending on the particular embodiment includes an adaptive code book, a fixed code book, a noise code book, and a pulse codebook. A pulse code book stores a plurality of types of codevectors corresponding to pitch waveforms of voiced sounds. At the time of coding input speech, the pulse code book is searched.

  • Patent number: 5862441
Abstract: An image-forming machine comprises a movable mounting plate disposed in said machine housing in a manner to be moved toward, and away from, a photosensitive material drum, and a push-operation mechanism for moving the developing device mounted on the movable mounting plate between a push position close to said photosensitive material drum and a push-release position. The push-operation mechanism is equipped with a push lever disposed on the front side of the machine housing. When the push lever is brought to the first position on the upper side of the mounting surface of the movable mounting plate, the push-operation mechanism brings the developing device to the push position and when the push lever is brought to the second position of nearly the same height as the mounting surface of the movable mounting plate, the push-operation mechanism brings the developing device to the push-release position.

  • Patent number: 5861686
Abstract: An integrated device, used for selectively generating waking vibrations or sounds in alarm watches or in communications equipment such as cellullar or pager phones, is disclosed. In the device, first and second vibration members are set in a ring case and respectively generate waking vibrations and waking sounds. The second vibration member is made of a synthetic resin film, with two inner terminals being connected to both ends of a coil. A lead panel integrally extends from the edge of the second vibration member, thus being exposed to the outside of the device. Two outer terminals are provided on the outside end of the lead panel and are connected to the inner terminals through copper wires, thus connecting the coil to a PCB. The second vibration member, originally used for generating waking sounds, is thus used as a circuit board for the coil.

  • Patent number: 5861222
Abstract: A porous gas diffusion electrode for membrane fuel cells on an ion-conducting polymer. The electrode contains a finely divided electrocatalyst which is dispersed in a proton-conducting ionomer and has a total porosity of more than 40 to less than 75%. It supplies considerably improved performance data in comparison to known electrodes. The electrode can be produced by using pore-forming materials which are dissolved during the re-protonation of the ion-conducting polymers with sulfuric acid or are decomposed by the action of temperature.

  • Patent number: 5862302
Abstract: A heat insulating member is disposed, enclosing a reaction tube, and a heat source is provided through a heat linearing member disposed above the reaction tube and between the reaction tube and the heat insulating member. The reaction tube is made of quartz and has a transparent portion formed in the top thereof and its neighboring thereof, and an opaque portion in the rest part of the reaction tube. In a heat treatment, when heat rays are radiated from the heat source through the heat linearing member, the heat rays pass through the transparent portion of the reaction tube to heat a wafer, but those of the heat rays reflected on the heat insulating member are blocked by the opaque portion of the reaction tube. A heat ray quantity to be passed into the reaction tube can be controlled, whereby high intra-surface temperature uniformity of the wafer can be secured, and as a result high processing yields can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5859932
Abstract: To transmit and record an input pattern efficiently by dividing the input pattern into a vector quantization index and its difference signal, and sequentially optimize the vector quantization code book. A least distortion vector determining unit 101 issues a representative vector y.sub.m having least square error in y.sub.i in the code book, with respect to an inputted 64-dimensional vector x, and simultaneously issues its index m, and the difference vector d obtained as d=x-y.sub.m in a subtractor 103 is quantized in a quantizing unit 104, and is issued together with the index data. Afterwards, a difference vector d' is determined in an inverse quantizing unit 106, and a code book changing unit 107 changes so that the representative vector Y.sub.m may be closer to the input vector x by using this difference vector. At the decoding side, synchronously, the representative vector y.sub.m is changed.

  • Patent number: 5858800
Abstract: An exciting light 2 is introduced within a slab-type optical waveguide 1, an evanescent wave due to the exciting light 2 excites fluorescent light, and among the fluorescent light, a fluorescent light which is radiated in a direction which direction crosses the exciting light 2 by a predetermined angle, is detected by a fluorescent light detector 4. Consequently, the exciting light and the fluorescent light are spacially separated so as to reduce stray light, and an arrangement of an optical system is simplified.
