  • Patent number: 5750436
Abstract: An Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 layer is formed on a surface of a wafer, which is an object to be processed, at a high temperature of, for example, 780.degree. C., using a vertical thermal processing apparatus having a reaction tube of a double-wall structure comprising an inner tube and an outer tube in which a predetermined reduced-pressure status is maintained within the reaction tube while a reaction gas comprising, for example, SiH.sub.2 Cl.sub.2 and NH.sub.3 is made to flow from an inner side to an outer side of the inner tube by the action of a first gas supply pipe and first exhaust pipe provided in the thermal processing apparatus. Next, the temperature in the interior of the reaction tube is raised to, for example, 1000.degree. C., a reaction gas comprising, for example, H.sub.2 O vapor and HCl is made to flow from the outer side to the inner side of the inner tube by the action of a second gas supply pipe and second exhaust pipe, and an SiO.sub.2 layer is formed by the oxidation of the surface of the Si.sub.

  • Patent number: 5749221
Abstract: In a horizontally opposed type engine, right and left exhaust pipes are provided for right and left cylinder banks, respectively and a collecting pipe is disposed to collect gases these two exhaust pipes. Further, in a two-stage catalytic converter system, two main catalysts are provided for the two exhaust pipes, respectively, and a subsidiary catalyst is provided in the collecting pipe. An oxygen sensors is provided in each of the exhaust pipes on the upstream side of it's main catalyst. The air-fuel ratios of both the banks are controlled simultaneously on the basis of the output of one of the sensors, and the air-fuel ratio of the other bank is corrected on the basis of a difference between the outputs of the two oxygen sensors. Accordingly, the air-fuel ratios of both right and left banks can be controlled appropriately, without the use of an auxiliary oxygen sensor. As a result, it is possible to improve the purification capability of the auxiliary catalyst in the collecting pipe.

  • Patent number: 5748296
Abstract: An illumination beam is sent onto a localized region of the surface layer of a thin-film structure which is being etched in a vacuum processing chamber. The reflective light beam is sent through a filter to the matrix sensor of a video camera, and to an optical disperser or an interference filter, a selection diaphragm, a fiber-optic cable, and an analysis slit at the input of the optical disperser or interference filter. A spectral analysis of the reflective light beam is performed to detect, by reflectometry, the transition of the following layer in a specific analysis region of the localized region.

  • Patent number: 5743780
Abstract: A structure in which a toy is driven by a magnetic force including a rotary disk having a plurality of inner magnets thereon, with one magnet located at the center of the disk and the other magnets spaced therefrom. The polarity of the magnet in the center of the disk is different from the polarity of the remaining magnets. A mirror is mounted over the outer magnets and a plurality of inner magnets, each bearing a toy, are supported on the mirror. The polarity of the outer magnets is opposite the polarity of the inner magnets and is the same as the polarity of the inner magnet at the center of the rotary disk. The rotary disk may be driven to rotate by an outer driven wheel which, in turn, is rotated by a driven claw. The rotary disk is supported above a fixing disk. The driven wheel engages and rotates the rotary disk, causing movement of the outer magnets and toys on the mirror along the path of rotation of the inner magnets due to the magnetic attraction between the magnets of opposite polarities.

  • Patent number: 5743239
Abstract: In a fuel supply system for a vehicle, provided with a fuel tank having a bottom wall having an upward convex portion dividing an interior space of the fuel tank into a first chamber and a second chamber, a discharge rate of an electric fuel pump is controlled properly to reduce power consumption and fuel consumption. A fuel level monitoring means compares an output D.sub.m of a fuel meter unit 13 representing a level of fuel in the fuel tank with a set threshold fuel level L.sub.j, i.e., a minimum fuel level that requires the operation of a jet pump which pumps fuel from the second chamber into the first chamber. A power supply control means controls power supply to the fuel pump to supply power necessary for driving the fuel pump for operation at a discharge rate equal to the sum of the fuel consumption of the engine and a minimum required flow rate necessary for maintaining the performance of the fuel supply system when D.sub.m .gtoreq.L.sub.j or for operation at a maximum discharge rate when D.sub.

  • Patent number: 5742902
Abstract: A door operator includes a low noise, low radiation emission but high sensitivity super-regenerative receiver. The low radiation emission of the receiver allows the installation of plural operators in close proximity. The door operator receiver includes a super-regenerative circuit apparatus with a super-regenerative circuit and a resistively loaded cascode preamplifier stage that phase shifts a received RF signal and tightly couples the preamplifier stage output to the super-regenerative circuit. A cascode circuit arrangement of a field effect transistor (FET) and a bipolar transistor provides forward gain and very high reverse direction gain or isolation for the preamplifier stage. Preferably, the resistive loading elements and the phase-shifting elements are coupled to the cascode circuit between the transistors. The present invention also relates to a cascode preamplifier stage, a super-regenerative circuit, and a RF receiver each including such a preamplifier stage.
