Abstract: A device to hold, set, and release a golf tee in the ground precisely set height of the tee above the ground surface is described. The device is operated with one hand incorporating the golf ball into the setting operation to provide a quick, efficient, and accurate placement of the golf tee. The device retains the golf tee until released after being set in the ground. The device in gripping the tee holds the tee head against a convex tee chamber surface that is the desired tee height above the device bottom. Inserting the tee in the ground until the device bottom contacts the ground sets the tee to this desired height. The tee head height is adjustable by varying the location of the tee chamber with respect to the bottom of the device.
Abstract: Treatment apparatus and a process for thermal desorption of hydrocarbon contaminants from excavated soil provides efficient contaminant removal by handling the soil in a thermally conductive treatment vessel that fits within an insulated treatment chamber. The soil is treated in this chamber with fresh air that is dried and electrically heated prior to contacting the treatment vessel. The dry air passes through the soil and the air mixed with contaminants is withdrawn from the chamber through piping in the treatment vessel. Excavating the soil directly into the treatment vessel allows the treated soil to be returned to the final disposition site in the same vessel, minimizing soil handling.
Abstract: A collapsible electronic equipment enclosure surrounds portable or tabletop electronic equipment, such as laptop computers, with opaque protective sheeting supported by flexible struts. An opening is provided that may include a transparent window and provision for hand entry to permit use of the contained equipment while it is protected from environmental hazards. Provision is made for equipment display visibility in bright sunshine and lighting. Restricting visibility of the equipment display enhances privacy. The enclosure collapses to store in a narrow space, is lightweight, and can be used to transport the contained equipment either by a carry handle or as a backpack. The enclosure can be anchored to a tabletop for motion protection. It can also be locked closed and the contained equipment fastened by a security cable and lock to provide theft and tamper protection for the contained equipment and the enclosure when unattended.
Abstract: Liquid-cooling the engine cylinder head augments air-cooling of a model car engine. This provides additional heat transfer from the engine in a location on the car chassis remote from the engine. This supplemental cooling allows improved engine performance and reduces car operating problems and damage related to high engine operating temperatures.
