Abstract: The present invention provides compounds having antimicrobial activity for preventing and treating diseases caused by microbial infections. Thus, the present invention relates to novel semi-synthetic 11,12-? lactone macrolides and ketolides having antimicrobial activity, processes for making compounds as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing said compounds as active ingredients and methods of treating microbial infections with the compounds.

Abstract: This invention relates to a cable connector device for use on a battery terminal post, the cable connector including a conductive mounting cap having an internal mounting wall with a surface area corresponding with the surface area of a said battery mounting post to enable, in use, the cap to be mountable over the said battery mounting post, the mounting cap including a cable mounting post integral with or attachable to the mounting cap, the cable mounting post being adapted with a cable fastening means, in use, to receive and fasten an electrical cable thereto.

Abstract: An exercise racquet to aid in the playing development of the user. The racquet incorporates a handle and a solid planar member extending from the handle. The planar member has a centrally located stabilizer member including a longitudinally concave length located on both surfaces of the planar member, the longitudinal concave length having curved wings with downwardly extending shoulders so that the planar member provides resistance to the racquet being stroked through the air and a stabilizer member to prevent the racquet from lifting.

Abstract: The instant invention relates to novel prodrugs of optically pure benzoquinolizine-2-carboxylic acid and pharmaceutical compositions that include the prodrugs. In particular, the present invention relates to the sulfonic acid salts of L-alanine and L-valine prodrugs of S-(?)-9-fluoro-6,7-dihydro-8-(4-hydroxypiperidin-1-yl)-5-methyl-1-oxo-1H,5H-benzo[i,j]quinolizine-2-carboxylic acid. The compounds and compositions of the invention can be used to treat bacterial Gram-positive, Gram-negative and anaerobic infections, especially infections caused by resistant Gram-positive organism and Gram-negative organism, mycobacterial infections and emerging nosocomial pathogen infections.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the extraction and isolation of insulins from recombinant sources, particularly those expressed in and secreted by yeasts. Organic solvents have been used to extract host surface bound forms of insulin polypeptide. In addition, procedures for combining the steps medium clarification, solvent extraction and chromatography, in order to effect the simultaneous isolation and purification of soluble and membrane bound forms of insulin, is disclosed.

Abstract: A polymorphic forms of the hydrochloride salt and mesylate salt of racemic (±)-1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-8-methoxy-7-(4-amino-3,3-dimethylpiperidin-1-yl)-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-quinoline-3-carboxylic acid, dextrorotatory R-(+)-1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-8-methoxy-7-(4-amino-3,3-dimethylpiperidin-1-yl)-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-quinoline-3-carboxylic acid and S-(?)-1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-8-methoxy-7-(4-amino-3,3-dimethylpiperidin-1-yl)-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-quinoline-3-carboxylic acid having formula (I) and (II) respectively are described. Processes for their preparation are also described. The invention further relates to methods of using, and pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds of the invention for treatment of bacterial infections in mammals.

Abstract: A sawmill having a saw blade 11 which can move between a substantially horizontal cutting position and a substantially vertical cutting position, the sawmill having a control arm 14 which operates to move the blade between the substantially horizontal and vertical cutting positions, the control arm 14 being mounted for pivotal movement about an axis 15, there being mechanism 18 which acts against the control arm in a substantially linear manner, wherein movement of the mechanism causes the control 14 arm to pivot about the axis 15 and move the blade 11 between the cutting positions. The sawmill may have a deflector in the form of a flap mounted adjacent the blade to deflect a cut board from the log as the next board is being cut.

In particular, the present invention is directed to a process for the manufacture of Methyl-(+)-(S)-?-(2-chlorophenyl)-6,7-dihydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridine-S-(4H)acetate bisulfate Form-I.

Abstract: An annular collet or gripping member radially located within a coupling assembly of the type having a hollow body, nut and an O-ring or seal for connection of a pipe thereto. The collet is axially split, the split defined by first and second generally parallel ends that are of an engageable configuration, typically by one end having a projection and the other end a correspondingly shaped cavity enabling the ends to interlock. In the normal operation of the coupling, the collet exerts a longitudinal force on the O-ring causing a seal. When it experiences an axial force that would normally relatively displace the two ends causing a leak, being engaged to each other this movement is resisted ensuring that the seal is maintained. The present invention also relates to a coupling having such a collet.

The text centre determines the target address(es) of the calls, and the identity of the target address(es) in each case is recorded in the text centre against a telephone call centre or call centres. The text messages are then sent to the call centre or call centres corresponding to the target address(es). For each call centre the text message calls received there are processed such that a future return call time is assigned to each of the text message calls. For each text message call the call centre concerned automatically forwards a return text message to the telephone concerned, the return text message contains details of when a return telephonic voice call will be made from the call centre to the holder of the telephone. The return voice calls are then made.

Abstract: A luminaire optical system (10) for an indirect light source including a tubular lamp (12) having a longitudinal axis (22), a first reflector assembly (14) extending parallel to and radially spaced directly above said lamp and a second reflector assembly (16) parallel to and radially spaced from said lamp directly below the lamp. Each of the assemblies includes symmetrical reflectors (22; 24; 30; 32) joining in an apex (26; 34) directly below and above the lamp. The bottom reflector (16) further may include two segments (30a; 30b; 32a; 32b) on each reflecting surface, the segments marking a sharp change in reflecting angle. Most such luminaires will typically also include perforations to maintain useful light profiles. The luminaire according to the present configuration increases the lighting efficiency by minimising any reflections passing back into the tube and ensuring an even spread of light throughout an area being illuminated.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved hole-saw assembly and in particular, to a mandrel engageable by a drill and including at least one locking ring or annulus that allows for the base of two hole-saws of different diameter to be quickly and easily mountable and demountable from the mandrel. The hole-saw assembly includes a first hole-saw having a base that includes a pair of drive-pins extending outwardly therefrom and a pair of apertures for insertion therethrough of the drive pins of a second hole-saw. The drive pin pairs are then inserted through corresponding apertures in the mandrel to engage an annulus coupled to the mandrel. The present invention provides for each drive pin to be engaged by the annulus despite the difference in longitudinal length of the drive pins beyond the base of the first hole-saw. The hole-saws are snap-fit within the annulus and may be disengaged by simply rotating the annulus to a second position.

Abstract: As shown in FIG. 1, there is a paint scraper 1, comprising support means 2 supporting a blade portion 3, the blade portion having a scraping edge 5 with undulations, the undulations being arranged to match corrugations of a sheet of corrugated iron; the scraper 1 being formed such that when it is in use the blade portion can be arranged against the sheet of corrugated iron such that the blade portion extends from the sheet in a substantially perpendicular fashion with the undulations of the scraping edge 5 aligned in complimentary fashion with undulations of the sheet, and wherein a substantial part of the scraping edge can then be scraped across the sheet to substantially effectively remove paint flakes or dirt from the sheet.

The front of the shade 1 has a cover portion or “drop down” 6 in the form of a flap which can be lowered to increase the sun protection to the infant. The shade 1 is length adjustable so that it can be used with strollers of various sizes. A sleeping sack 12 may be used with the stroller. The sack 12 has a base part 14 and two flaps 15 and 16 which can be joined by way of a zipper arrangement 17. The sack 12 has a series of slits 20 for receiving restraining straps of the stroller 2. The sack includes a padded inner 21 which can releasably attach to the base part 14. The sack 12 is length adjustable.

Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus (1) for lifting and moving objects (2), the apparatus including a mobile base means, a telescoping post means (6, 7), an object handling cradle and a cradle (50) adjusting means (20, 21), wherein the telescoping post means is attached to the mobile base means and is substantially vertically disposed and being adapted with means to adjust the height of the post means between a retracted position and an extended position, the cradle adjusting means being adapted to be pivotably attached adjacent the top end of the post means in a horinzontal axis to enable the cradle to be adjustable in a vertical plane, the cradle having a substantially planar top surface and being adapted to be rotatably connected to the cradle adjusting means to enable the cradle to be rotatable in a horizontal plane and being adapted to support and transport an object to a desired position.
