Abstract: A polishing composition comprising an abrasive having an average primary particle size of 200 nm or less, an oxidizing agent, an acid having a pK1 of 2 or less and/or a salt thereof, and water, wherein the acid value (Y) of the polishing composition is 20 mg KOH/g or less and 0.2 mg KOH/g or more; a process for reducing fine scratches of a substrate, comprising polishing a substrate to be polished with the above-mentioned polishing composition; and a method for manufacturing a substrate, comprising polishing a substrate to be polished with the above-mentioned polishing composition. The polishing composition can be suitably used for final polishing memory hard disk substrates and polishing semiconductor elements.
Abstract: A secondary polymer battery is provided with:
a) a cathode containing a current collector made of an electrically conductive substrate and a composition placed on said current collector, said composition including i) one or more transition metal compounds selected among a transition metal and transition metal salt of the formula MXn, wherein M is a transition metal, X is a halogen negative ion, and n is an integral number between 1 to 6; ii) a matrix polymer which has a basic functional group with affinity for the transition metal species;
(b) a polymer electrolyte containing a lithium salt; and
(c) an anode including the material selected among a lithium metal, a lithium alloy and a lithium intercalation material such as carbon. The secondary polymer battery has a high energy density and a high charging/discharging efficiency with extended cycle life.

Abstract: A power noise prevention circuit in an MCU, includes a system clock generating circuit generating a system clock signal by receiving a clock signal, a clock freezing and synchronizing part outputting the system clock signal during a power failure, a reset circuit resetting an MCU during the power failure, a power fail detection circuit detecting a power level based on a freeze level and a reset level, and a power fail detection register controlling a detection operation and a detection mode of the power fail detection circuit. Abstract: A power saving system and method for the analog-to-digital converter stage in a time of flight ranging system. A receiving echo signal having an envelope is converted into a digital form suitable for further processing by sampling the received echo signal envelope at precise intervals to obtain amplitude measurement points. An interpolation function is applied between each pair of adjacent amplitude measurement points. The application of the interpolation function provides a closer approximation of the shape of the received echo signal envelope without the need to use higher sampling rates which means slower analog-to-digital converters may be utilized resulting in power and cost savings.

Abstract: A transmission for changing a ratio of a rotational number of a power source and a rotational number of an output shaft by shifting a gear train provided between the power source and the output shaft by moving a shift fork. The transmission includes a shift drum for moving the shift fork, a clutch provided between the power source and the gear train, a shift spindle for urging the shift drum and the clutch. When the shift spindle is pivoted, lift of a clutch is started by pivoting a clutch arm. In accordance with pivoting the shift spindle, a sub arm is pivoted and preload is applied on a master arm by a preload spring. Thereafter, when the sub arm is further pivoted, the master arm follows the sub arm and a shift drum is pivoted via index pins. Since the preload is applied, when the clutch is disengaged, the shift drum is pivoted immediately, a shift fork is displaced and gears are switched.
Abstract: A laundry dryer has a drum rotatively installed inside a case, a heater heating air flowing inside the drum, a rear plate coupled so as to cover a rear portion of the drum and having a vertically elongated inlet hole traversing upper and lower areas of the drum body, a central portion of the vertically elongated inlet hole crossing a horizontal line of the rear plate, and an inlet duct covering the inlet hole and simultaneously having a plurality of duct holes formed at a portion covering the inlet hole so as to guide air heated by the heater to flow inside the drum. The present invention enables the common use of the rear plate for both electrical and gas laundry dryers, and thus allows the use of a common line for assembly. Therefore, the present invention reduces product costs and increases productivity.

Abstract: A phased array antenna consisting of like multi-element tiles whose elements are located so as to produce an irregular array when the tiles have mutually different orientations, e.g., random. The resulting irregular array reduces the effective translational period of the array elements, which in turn ameliorates grating lobes even for wide (one wavelength) effective element spacings. An antenna so designed can maintain low peak sidelobes at far higher frequencies than a conventional translational-periodic phased array antenna of the same element density.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed in the form of a cabinet having doors and interior side walls with supports for receiving trays of food products to be rapidly rethermalized and held. The apparatus can also condition the rethermalized food product, as well as act as a cooking oven. A steam generator is provided for supplying steam to the cabinet interior where it is continuously mixed with air. Abstract: A tip paper predrying apparatus attached to a filter attachment includes an infrared lamp unit (16) located in the middle of a transfer path for a tip paper (P). After paste is applied to one surface of the tip paper in a paste applicator section (2), the pasted surface of the tip paper is irradiated with infrared rays from the infrared lamp unit before the tip paper is cut into individual tip paper pieces in a cutter section (4), whereby the tip paper is predried without any special contact with a heat source.
Abstract: The invention relates to a floor heating device comprising an electric heating cable extending backwards and forwards underneath a floor surface to be heated. Metal rectangular or square panels are provided with channels extending in parallel in the direction of deposition of the panels. Each metal panel is fitted on its reverse side with an insulating panel in a sandwich construction so that the channels of the metal panel penetrate into the insulating panel material. The assembled panels are deposited on the support of the floor in juxtaposed relationship in the longitudinal and transverse directions such that each channel of one metal panel continues into another channel formed in the adjacent metal panel at the end edge sides of the first metal panel. The heating cable is arranged inside the channels so as to extend from one metal panel to the next backwards and forwards across the floor.
Abstract: The present application describes various improvements and further developments to the Expanded Bed Adsorption (EBA) technology. In particular, the application describes an EBA process where elution is performed in fluidized mode, i.e., in expanded bed mode, the so-called All Expanded Process. This improvement which is based on the use of controlled density particles, e.g., particles having a density of at least 1.3 g/ml, provides valuable advantages with respect to use of reduced amounts of elution buffer.

Abstract: To improve the maintainability of a vehicle by properly identifying a worn endless belt in a belt-type automatic transmission and informing a driver of the proper belt replacement interval. The belt replacement timing annunciator relies upon the radii of the endless belt wound around a drive pulley and around a driven pulley that vary to produce shifting change gear ratios. Various operating conditions and the actual change gear ratio for the specific operating condition are detected, and a comparison between a reference change gear ratio and the actual change gear ratio is made to determine if belt replacement is necessary. A timer device provides a predetermined observation interval for avoiding erroneous readings and a display is also provided for indicating the necessity of belt replacement.

Abstract: A pellicle that excellently transmits ultraviolet rays and, particularly, vacuum ultraviolet rays, does not lose the film thickness thereof that stems from the photolysis and, hence, exhibits excellent light resistance. The pellicle is obtained by using, as a material of pellicle film, an impurity-free organic polymer obtained by treating an organic polymer to remove at least a portion of at least any one of, preferably, a majority portion of trace amount-metal components, high molecular components and incomplete molecular structure components contained in the organic polymer. The invention further provides a method of preparing a pellicle.
