    Abstract: A smart card contacting apparatus comprising: a frame in which contact elements are mounted, a locking element mounted on the frame and adapted to lock a smart card directly or indirectly in a reading position on the frame in which the contact elements contact smart card contacts of the inserted smart card, and a mechanical an unlocking elements provided on the frame and adapted to unlock the locking means when the smart card is moved out of the reading position.
