Patent number: 7949863Abstract: A method and system for inter-port communication utilizing a multi-port memory device. The memory device contains an interrupt register, an interrupt signal interface (e.g., a dedicated pin), an interrupt mask, and one or more message buffers associated with each port. When a first component coupled to a first port of the memory device wants to communicate with a second component coupled to a second port of the memory device, the first component writes a message to a message buffer associated with the second port. An interrupt in the input register of the second port is set to notify the second component coupled to the second port that a new message is available. Upon receiving the interrupt, the second component reads the interrupt register to determine the nature of the interrupt. The second component then reads the message from the message buffer.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2007Date of Patent: May 24, 2011Assignee: Silicon Image, Inc.Inventors: Alan T. Patent number: 7415704Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer systems and program products, for sharing data objects in runtime systems. An identification of a first data object in a first runtime system is received. The first data object references zero or more referenced data objects. A shared closure of data objects, which consists of the first data object and a transitive closure of the referenced data objects, is identified, and a determination is made as to whether the shared closure of data objects is usable in a second runtime system. In some implementations, determining whether a shared closure is usable in a second runtime system includes determining whether each data object in the shared closure is serializable without execution of custom code, or determining whether the runtime class of each object instance in the shared closure is shareable. Using shared closures to share objects between runtime systems can provide isolation between user sessions.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2004Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: SAP AGInventors: Oliver Schmidt, Norbert Kuck, Edgar Lott, Martin Strassburger, Arno Hilgenberg, Ralf Schmelter

Patent number: 7339892Abstract: In a wireless network system having a wired backbone network, one or more access points (APs), and one or more wireless units (WUs), a technique wherein an AP automatically determines a factor indicative of the error(s) occurring in the transmissions of one or more data packets to associated WUs, and automatically adjust the fragmentation threshold in accordance with the transmission error factor. The AP adjusts the fragmentation threshold in a manner that the data throughput is increased. Since the AP automatically and periodically gauges the wireless medium for RF interference that can cause data transmission errors, the fragmentation threshold can be dynamically adjusted to respond to changes in the wireless medium, such as when a microwave oven is turned on, and/or when a Blue Tooth device is traversing the wireless medium, etc. This is much more effective than having a system administrator periodically gauge the wireless medium for the purpose of selecting the appropriate fragmentation threshold.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2000Date of Patent: March 4, 2008Assignee: Nortel Networks LimitedInventors: Darwin A. Patent number: 7336626Abstract: A wireless communication system operates in a combined FDD and TDD mode. During a first time period, data may be transmitted at a first frequency band and received at a second frequency band. During a second time period, data is transmitted at the second frequency band and received at the first frequency band. The first and second time periods may be of identical durations, thereby creating a 50% duty cycle. When the base station operates with multiple frequency bands, spatial processing parameters such as the spatial signature or copy weights of the mobile stations may be collected in all frequency bands, thereby allowing the full processing advantage of adaptive antenna.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2001Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: Arraycomm, IncInventors: Craig H.
