  • Patent number: 8339811
Abstract: An output voltage sensor for use in a power converter controller includes a first pulse sampler circuit coupled to receive a feedback signal representative of an output of a power converter. The first pulse sampler circuit is coupled to capture a first peak voltage representative of a second peak of a ringing voltage of the feedback signal at a first time in the feedback signal. A second pulse sampler circuit is coupled to receive the feedback signal representative of the output of the power converter. The second pulse sampler circuit is coupled to capture a second peak voltage representative of the second peak of the ringing voltage of the feedback signal at a second time in the feedback signal. The output voltage sensor is coupled to output a change signal to a drive circuit of the power converter controller in response to the first and second peak voltages.

  • Patent number: 8341614
Abstract: Methods, software media, compilers and programming techniques are described for creating copyable stack-based closures, such as a block, for languages which allocate automatic or local variables on a stack memory structure. In one exemplary method, a data structure of the block is first written to the stack memory structure, and this may be the automatic default operation, at run-time, for the block; then, a block copy instruction, added explicitly (in one embodiment) by a programmer during creation of the block, is executed to copy the block to a heap memory structure. The block includes a function pointer that references a function which uses data in the block.

  • Patent number: 8335160
Abstract: An improved network flow sampling apparatus and corresponding method more intelligently selects flows to be reported beyond random flow or packet sampling intervals. Evaluation of flows selects top talkers or heavy hitters as important flows that most impact traffic and therefore should be reported. Top talkers are flows defined based on a customized definition according to, for example, number of packets in a flow, number of bytes in a flow, or bandwidth consumed by a flow. An external collector can thus proceed with traffic profiling or other flow monitoring purposes with a more intelligently determined network flow sample.

  • Patent number: 8336033
Abstract: A system and method are provided to generate a hierarchical tree representing stack traces. In one embodiment, stack trace elements in a plurality of stack traces relating to profiling of an application executing at a first virtual machine are identified, the stack trace elements relating to profiling events being detected during the profiling of the application. The identified stack trace elements are sorted as one of parent elements; parent/child elements, or child elements based on a number of times a stack trace element has appeared in the plurality of stack traces and its relationship with other elements in the plurality of stack traces. A tree having nodes to represent the stack trace elements is created such that that the child elements branch from the parent/child elements or the parent elements, and the parent/child elements branch from the parent elements.

  • Patent number: 8333331
Abstract: A decorative water display provides a laminar water bell. A gas burner may be provided inside the laminar water bell to produce a decorative flame. A laminar nozzle having an outlet arranged to eject a laminar jet of water upwardly in a substantially vertical direction may strike an impactor suspended directly above the outlet of the laminar nozzle such that the laminar jet of water forms the laminar water bell. Alternatively, a vertical pipe may supply water to a thin annular region between two plates such that water flowing between the two plates assumes a generally laminar flow characteristic and forms the laminar water bell when ejected from between the two plates. Alternatively, a hemispherical nozzle may have a slot arranged to eject a sheet of water upwardly to form a segment of the laminar water bell.

  • Patent number: 8336046
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses enable creation of a virtual machine (VM) clone initiated through application or service logic. The application requests generation of a VM clone from within the runtime execution of the application. The request is serviced by a VM generator, which identifies a state of the VM to clone and identifies hardware resources on which to create the VM clone. Based on a determination of what resources on which to generate the VM clone, the VM generator creates the VM clone on the determined resources, having the identified state. In one embodiment, a use case of resource copy or reference copy is selected for each resource. In one embodiment, the VM generator considers a number of factors in determining where to instantiate the VM clone. The parameters may include hints or preference parameters sent by the application and/or resource loading or performance.

  • Patent number: 8333569
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing vapor inside a liquid pump at the start up operation of the pump. In addition, a method and apparatus for removing liquid inside a compressor at the start up operation of the compressor. The pump and compressor each include a sensor attached to them that determines the physical state (i.e., liquid or vapor) of a material inside the pump or compressor. If vapor is detected inside the pump, a thermoelectric module connected to the pump is powered to condense the vapor into a liquid. Likewise, if liquid is detected inside the compressor a heater connected to the compressor is powered to evaporate the liquid into a vapor. After the state of the material inside the pump or compressor is changed, the pump or compressor is powered up for operation in a cooling system.

  • Patent number: 8334602
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a die package including an encapsulated die, including: a die including pads on one side thereof; an encapsulation layer covering lateral sides of the die; a support layer covering the encapsulation layer and one side of the die; a passivation layer formed on the other side of the die such that the pads are exposed therethrough; and a redistribution layer formed on the passivation layer such that one part thereof is connected with the pad. Here, since one side of the die is supported by the support layer and the encapsulation layer is formed on only the lateral side of the die, the warpage of the die package due to the difference in thermal expansion coefficient can be minimized.
