  • Patent number: 8325725
Abstract: A method reduces computational and/or bandwidth requirements of multicast routing by efficiently communicating required source state information. The method comprises receiving at a first network element, executing a modified host management protocol, a source interest list from a host over a network, the source interest list identifies at least one multicast source to be one of excluded or included from routing to the host. The modified host management protocol identifies a difference between the source interest list and a source state maintained by the first network element. The modified host management protocol provides the difference between the source interest list and the source state and not an entirety of the source interest list to a multicast routing protocol to alter the set of multicast sources to be routed to the host.

  • Patent number: 8326798
Abstract: A replication operation service migrates data from a source volume having a source file system type to a destination volume having a destination file system type, where the source file system type may be different from the destination file system type. The replication operation is completed without interrupting the operations of a client device in the system. A stable copy of the source file system is generated on the source volume. A file system agnostic representation of a portion of the data in the source volume is generated from the stable copy. The representation is transmitted to the destination volume where it is converted to conform to the destination file system type.

  • Patent number: 8325498
Abstract: An integrated circuit for use in a power supply includes a drive signal generator, a short on time detector, and an oscillator. The drive signal generator generates a drive signal in response to a clock signal. The short on time detector provides an output indicating that consecutive on times of the drive signal are short on times. An on time of the drive signal is a short on time if a switch current of the switch exceeds a current limit after a leading edge blanking period and if the on time of the switch is less than or equal to a sum of the leading edge blanking period and a current limit delay time period. The oscillator generates the clock signal and changes a frequency of the clock signal from a first frequency to a lower second frequency in response to the output of the short on time detector.

  • Patent number: 8326151
Abstract: The present invention discloses a low-cost light source for optical transmission systems and optical networks based on wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) technology. A light source in accordance with the present invention is implemented by externally injecting a narrow-band incoherent light into a Fabry-Perot laser diode (F-P LD). After injection of narrow-band incoherent light, the output of F-P LD becomes wavelength-selective rather than multi-mode and the output wavelength of F-P LD coincide with the peak wavelength of the injected incoherent light. Multi-channel WDM light sources according to the present invention can be implemented using a single broadband incoherent light source and plurality of F-P LDs. An optical transmission system for upstream signal transmission in an passive optical network using the light source according the present invention is also disclosed.
