Patent number: 8348516Abstract: A connector assembly has a cable assembly, plug assembly and a socket assembly. The socket assembly is a female member which is received within an opening at the front face of a panel. The plug assembly is a male member which then engages the socket at the front face of the panel. The cable assembly connects the cables carrying optical fibers to the plug assembly. As the socket assembly receives the plug assembly, doors on the respective housings open and ferrule carriers carried by the socket and plug assemblies mate. The plug assembly has a movable front end which permits the fibers to move in both horizontal and vertical directions.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2009Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Amphenol CorporationInventor: Richard F. Patent number: 8346521Abstract: A method of determining the feasibility of a proposed structure analysis process is disclosed. The process involved the electron beam excitation of x-rays from a multi-layered structure. The method comprises generating predicted x-ray data represents the x-ray excitation response of the multi-layered structure according to one or more sets of process conditions. The x-ray data are generated using structure data defining the structure and composition of the layers. The effects upon the x-ray data of changes to the structure data are then analyzed in accordance with one or more predetermined feasibility criteria, so as to determine the feasibility of performing the proposed structure analysis process upon the multi-layered structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2007Date of Patent: January 1, 2013Assignee: Oxford Instruments Nanotechnology Tools LimitedInventors: Peter John Statham, Charles Penman

Patent number: 8344150Abstract: The present invention provides pyrrole end-capped bipyridine derivative having a general formula (1) useful for the detection of zinc ions in solution. The present invention also provides a process for the preparation of pyrrole end-capped bipyridine derivative having a general formula (1). The present invention further provides a dipstick device by coating the assay powder of formula (1) in alumina over a thermoplastic or a glass solid support. The detection event can be monitored by noting the color change and the intense fluorescence change on the surface of the dipstick. For zinc ions, in addition to the color change an intense fluorescence change from greenish-yellow to red is observed. Detection event by means of fluorescence change is selective for Zn2+ ions when compared with all other biologically important metal ions like Na+, K+, Ca2+; Mg2+, Cu2+. The present dipstick is reusable, and can conduct the analysis of different samples using same stick.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2008Date of Patent: January 1, 2013Assignee: Council of Scientific & Industrial ResearchInventors: Ayyappanpillai Ajayaghosh, Sivaramapanicker Sreejith

Patent number: 8335468Abstract: A technique for interference cancellation in a satellite communication system involves an autocorrelation on the hub signal to detect a periodicity in the hub signal, determining a search range for a delay in the hub echo signal in accordance with the periodicity, locating the delay in the hub echo signal, and performing the interference cancellation in accordance with the delay. In the case of periodicity, a delay is acquired (either true or false) that provides cancellation (provided that the period does not change). When the period changes, cancellation is discovered to be poor, and another delay (that may be true or false) is acquired that provides good cancellation and so on.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2010Date of Patent: December 18, 2012Assignee: EMC SATCOM Technologies, LLCInventors: Sriram Jayasimha, Jyothendar Paladugula

Patent number: 8307430Abstract: A system and method is provided to identify UDP attacks. A processor determines a spectral density of packet timing intervals, a natural distance between the spectral density and a uniform distribution, and a non-linear amplifier applying a non-linear amplification to the natural distance to detect a denial-of-service attack. It uses the concept of traffic statistics analysis, i.e., spectral densities of arrived-packet timing intervals, calculates the KL-distance measurement and makes decision based on the output of a non-linear Gaussian amplifier, with which one can easily adjust the amplifier via selecting different parameters of mean and variance to satisfy system requirements of false-positive and false-negative UDP attack detections.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2008Date of Patent: November 6, 2012Assignee: Riorey, Inc.Inventors: Hongda Chen, Lijin Lu
