  • Patent number: 4635108
Abstract: Signals corresponding to the color content of an original, generated by scanning the original mounted on a rotating drum, are sampled and held at a coarse or low-resolution scanning rate. The number of samples per line (revolution) and the number of revolutions along which scanning is performed correspond to a raster scan of a video display. The signals are converted into digital signals and stored in a memory. The rate of sampling is adjusted so that samples from an entire frame of the original fill the memory. The stored signals are converted to analog signals, adjusted by a color computer to simulate a printing process and displayed at a raster scan rate on a video display. The apparatus according to the invention may be a scanner-previewer combination to achieve a previewing of the original, or may be a scanner with additional apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4634675
Abstract: An improved agitator for use with a fermentation and tissue culturing vessel acting as a microcarrier culture vessel is provided. The agitator includes a hollow body assembly having an open end and a closed end and at least one tubulation communicating with the hollow body assembly at a location spaced from the open end thereof, the tubulation having an exit opening oriented such that movement of the agitator and the tubulation causes a suction or draft at the exit opening to cause flow of fluid from the open end of the hollow body assembly through the hollow body assembly and out through the tubulation exit opening. In this way, a microcarrier cell culture may be stirred in a smooth and non-erratic way thereby minimizing the detachment of the rounded growth cells from the microcarriers.

  • Patent number: 4630985
Abstract: The screw has a conventional threaded body, and a tapered leading end for easy entry to a tapped hole. A projection extends radially from the tapered end portion and when the longitudinal center lines of the screw and hole are misaligned, makes first contact with the threads on the tapped hole. As the screw is turned, the projection follows the tapped threads of the hole to bring the machine screw into alignment. When the projection tracks the internal hole threads, the positional relationship between the projection and the first screw thread brings the starting point of the first screw thread into contact with the starting point of the first thread at the entrance of the tapped hole.

  • Patent number: 4629442
Abstract: A plastic eye having an appearance closely resembling a glass-blown eye is formed of two generally spherical halves, secured together by solvent or cement at confronting flanges. The spherical halves are formed of clear glass or plastic and the front half is a hollow molding having an internal planar surface. The various eye components are pad printed on the planar surface and then the interior of the shell is given a white coating. Slots can be provided in the front spherical shell wherein an artificial eyelash may be received. A forward central projection on the front half better simulates the cornea of a real eye.

  • Patent number: 4624263
Abstract: An electrocardiograph for connection to sensors outputting analog electrical signals and having at least one sensor outputting electrical signals is provided. At least one of the analog signals is sampled, converted from analog to digital form and stored in a memory means. A processor writes consecutively sampled digitalized signals represented by a predetermined duration of the analog sensor output signal to addresses of the memory for storage in consecutive order. The processor applies the stored data from the addresses in consecutive order through a printer which prints a series of portions of a curve representative of the analog signal to produce a cardiogram extending in the direction of advance of the print medium. A magnetic tape cassette is provided for storage of data and an audible alarm means is also provided. The memory may also store programs for analysing the data.

  • Patent number: 4623908
Abstract: The thin film transistor comprises a plurality of individual thin film transistors on a common insulating substrate with the plurality of individual thin film transistors being connected together in series. The gate electrode of each individual transistor of the plurality of thin film transistors is connected to form one common gate electrode for the overall transistor. Leakage current in the OFF condition is substantially reduced. Identical performance is achieved from the transistor with interchangeability in designating source and drain terminals, when a symmetry is provided such that the i-th transistor in a series of N is physically identical to the (N-i+1)-th transistor in the overall transistor.
