  • Patent number: 4505219
Abstract: An adjustable bookmark for paperback and hard cover books including an integral non-stretchable member having an adjustable loop portion and a marker portion, the adjustable loop portion being adapted to fit around one cover of a book, adjustable loop defining member affixed to one end of the non-stretchable member and operatively engaging another portion of the non-stretchable member to define the adjustable loop portion, the remainder of the non-stretchable member extending from the adjustable loop defining member defining the marker portion, a decorative member attached to the marker portion at a position remote from the end of the adjustable loop portion so that when the size of the adjustable loop is adjusted by moving the adjustable loop defining member to fit tightly around one cover of book and the adjustable loop defining member is positioned adjacent the top of such a cover, the marker portion will extend downwardly from the adjustable loop defining member and may be positioned to mark a desired pag

  • Patent number: 4504354
Abstract: A method and associated apparatus for forming gravure cells in a gravure cylinder for accurately reproducing an image, including the steps of coating the peripheral surface of a gravure cylinder with an insulating coating, revealing a first group of predetermined portions of the coated gravure cylinder by selectively removing the insulating coating overlying portions of the peripheral surface of the gravure cylinder, ablating the first group of exposed portions of the gravure cylinder to a predetermined depth, and repeating the revealing and ablating steps until a predetermined number of different groups of predetermined portions of the gravure cylinder have been revealed with each previously revealed group having further portions of the gravure cylinder ablated to a greater predetermined depth during each ablating step to provide a gravure cylinder having the desired pattern of gravure cells of the desired depths for accurately reproducing an image.

  • Patent number: 4487122
Abstract: A system for compensating for roll deflection to provide uniform contact pressure across the width of a web disposed between a pair of counter rollers, comprising a first roller mounted for rotation, a second roller mounted for rotation about a deflectable shaft, pressure applying means coupled to the ends of the deflectable shaft for moving the second roller into contact with the first roller, the second roller including an outer shell mounted for rotation relative to the deflectable shaft, a pair of end bearings disposed adjacent the ends of the outer sleeve and a pair of main bearings disposed inwardly from the end bearings a predetermined distance to transmit the applied pressure uniformly over the face width of the second roller when the second roller is used with a flexible first roller, and self-adjusting deflection compensating means arranged proximate to the deflectable shaft for applying pressure to the ends of the outer shell in response to the deflection of the deflectable shaft by the pressure ap

  • Patent number: 4455215
Abstract: A process for the geoconversion of coal into oil comprising the steps of forming a coal slurry, injecting the coal slurry into a preselected oil well to provide an environment for the coal slurry having predetermined pressure conditions of approximately 1500 to 4500 lbs./in..sup.2 and temperature conditions of approximately 200.degree. to 300.degree. F., converting the coal into oil as a result of the combined action of the heat and pressure upon the coal, and removing the resulting oil after sufficient time has elapsed for conversion of the coal into oil.

  • Patent number: 4452457
Abstract: A financial board game having a closed loop path divided into a plurality of discrete spaces interconnected to one another with each space providing an instruction for a player whose token lands thereon, a stock market pricing display including a plurality of stocks each of which has a plurality of indicia of stock values associated therewith, some of the discrete spaces having instructions indicating that a particular stock has gone up or down in value and other discrete spaces having instructions indicating that shares of a particular stock may be purchased. A marker movable in response to instructions from spaces of the closed loop path for collectively displaying the current indicia for each of the stocks.

  • Patent number: 4385812
Abstract: An objective lens cover assembly for employment in a sterile or nonsterile disposable operating microscope drape. The assembly includes a housing adapted to frictionally engage the objective lens frame of the microscope, and to removably receive a lens cover in positive locking and sealing engagement therewith. The housing includes a circumferential flange for seating the lens cover, and a resilient peripheral portion extending downwardly from said flange for receiving the lens cover. The resilient peripheral portion includes resilient lens cover retaining means including a plurality of inwardly deflectable projections, each having a base face spaced from the circumferential flange to define lens cover retaining slots. When the lens cover is received in the housing, the lens cover deflects the lens cover retaining means outwardly to seat the lens cover in the retaining slots. The lens cover is disengaged from the housing by flexing the lens retaining means outwardly.
