  • Patent number: 6695187
Abstract: A carrying case for a portable two-way radio and designed to be attached to various points or straps on a Type V floatation vest used as a work vest by crew members on tug boats, tow boats and other inland or intra-coastal waterway vessels. The carrying case is comprised of a receptacle and strap. The receptacle is formed of a flexible material and has an open top and front, rear, bottom and two side surfaces. The strap is mounted longitudinally to the rear surface, and passes through a D-ring attached to the top edge of the front surface. The strap has fastening means on either end for securing the two ends together. The case is then attached to a work vest by passing the strap through an attachment point on the work vest above the case, then through another attachment point below the case. The ends of the strap are then tightened by the fastener means.

  • Patent number: 6648536
Abstract: A writing instrument having an ergonomic configuration and methods for making the instrument. The instrument is elongated having an equilateral triangular cross-section and having a uniform partial twist along the length thereof. The partial twist permits flat surface engagement for the thumb, index finger and middle finger and for the dorsal first web space of the user's hand. The uniform twist in combination with the equilateral cross-sectional shape also permits tight packing in bulk. A method for making the instrument in the form of a rigid pencil is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6639517
Abstract: A water leak detector system with alarm can be used to monitor inaccessible areas under various household appliances and warn of water leaks. A leak detection mat, having base layer of varying and appropriate sizes has disposed on it one or more pairs of electrodes arranged in a pattern around the upper surface of the base mat such that the two wires of each pair are parallel to the other and generally separated at a constant distance, and together the pair is positioned in a pattern across the surface. An absorbent layer is affixed to the base layer, covering and in contact with the electrodes. The absorbent layer may be impregnated with a soluble ionic salt to increase electrical conductivity when the adsorbent layer is wetted. A sensing and transmitting circuit having two input connections is affixed to the base substrate, with one end of each electrode attached to one of the input connections of the sensing and transmitting circuit.

  • Patent number: 6546851
Abstract: A portable cooking grill, which is fully capable of disassembly, having a pair of side retaining members, being linear and having a square or rectangular cross-sectional shape, each having a horizontal and a vertical borehole at either end traversing through the side retaining member, and having a plurality of sockets disposed interior of and regularly spaced along one side of the side retaining member. With the sockets of either side retaining member in opposing alignment, the ends of a plurality of traverse rods are each registered within opposing sockets. The assembly of two side retaining members and the plurality of transverse rods are secured in place with two clamping rods, the threaded ends of which register with and traverse through the opposing horizontal boreholes in the side retaining member and are secured in place with torsionally engaged threaded fasteners, forming a rigid grilling surface.

  • Patent number: 6153316
Abstract: Non-directional and diffuse reflecting photometric properties may be imbued to a metal sheet stock, particularly aluminum alloy sheet stock, by directly creating a textured surface on one or more surfaces of the sheet stock through mechanical texturing with at least one textured work roll in a cold roll reducing mill. A textured metal sheet surface thus produced is characterized by having over its entire surface randomly formed imbricated depressions transversely arranged, such that each depression has a substantially transverse width dimension relative to a longitudinal axis of the sheet and a longitudinal dimension greater than its width. The depressions formed are substantially equiaxial. Surface properties of both the textured work roll and the textured metal sheet may be controlled. The metal sheet stock are subjected to finishing steps such as chemical brightening and anodizing, or organic coating to provide lighting sheets with high total reflectance.
