  • Patent number: 4511928
Abstract: A system and method for reproducing images on a printer in printed form employs a primary microprocessor and a printer control microprocessor to achieve a "print while store" capability. Digital data corresponding to the images to be reproduced are received and stored by the first microprocessor which processes the data as well. When printing is desired, the data is transferred by the primary microprocessor to a printer buffer memory, and is then retrieved and printed by a gray line printer under the control of a printer control microprocessor. In accordance with the "print while store" capability, the latter operation of the printer control microprocessor can take place even while further image data is being acquired. Contention between the primary and printer control microprocessor is avoided by providing the printer control microprocessor with an "inhibit" capability.

  • Patent number: 4506631
Abstract: The invention describes a process wherein high-purity hydrogen and oxygen gases can be economically produced via a water electrolysis method, utilizing cheap energy recovered from an incineration process of industrial, municipal, agricultural and other waste materials in a fluidized-bed incinerator. In the said process combustible solid and/or liquid wastes with high energy content are exploited to supply the energy required to incinerate and decompose other solid or liquid wastes with lower or no energy content. Also the process provides a method wherein any solid, liquid or gaseous emissions or effluents from the process are effectively trapped, controlled and converted to environmentally acceptable, inert and harmless products. Also the process includes an energy recovery system such that the thermal energy from the incineration is used to produce steam and generate electricity required for all operations in the process including the production of oxygen.

  • Patent number: 4504739
Abstract: Described are methods of filling and emptying radiation shields comprising a container formed of thin flexible material. The method of filling comprises the steps of (a) filling the radiation shield with a gas to form the shield and then (b) replacing the gas with a radiation attenuating liquid.Additionally, when the shield configuration is not entirely filled with radiation attenuating liquid, either deliberately or due to leakage, an overpressure of gas above the radiation attenuating liquid solidifies the shield in its designed dimensional configuration. The method of emptying comprises the step of forcing the radiation attenuating liquid out through one or more outlets by forcing a gas into the radiation shield.
