  • Patent number: 5563858
Abstract: A multi-beam recording-reproduction apparatus, which is provided with: a track-crossing signal generation section for releasing a track-crossing signal in response to a reflected light beam derived from a predetermined one of a plurality of light beams that have been projected onto an optical disk from an optical head and that are shifted in the same direction at the same time; and a track-counting circuit for releasing a track-count value in accordance with the track-crossing signal, characterized in that an access control section makes a positioning of the optical head in accordance with the track-count value. This arrangement makes it possible to provide a track-counting operation by installing only one track-crossing signal generation section as well as only one track-counting circuit for use in counting tracks. In other words, the track-counting operation is available by using a simpler construction.
