  • Patent number: 4157689
Abstract: An apparatus for the feeding of an attachment-formed strip of fabric into a sewing machine of the type which intermittently advances a material to be sewn through the machine is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an eccentric mounted on the sewing machine for converting rotary motion to eccentric motion. Coupling structure couples the eccentric to the source of rotary power driving the sewing machine. A support structure supports a sewing machine attachment in a position where the output of the attachment may be fed into the sewing machine. Mounting moveably supports the support means on the sewing machine. A second coupling structure couples the support structure to the eccentric to impart a reciprocating motion to the support and to the attachment mounted on it.

  • Patent number: 4108094
Abstract: A sewing machine attachment for automatically accomplishing a ruffling function is disclosed. Ruffling is performed by a finger means which is positioned to grip a fabric disposed on the work table of the sewing machine when the finger means is advanced toward the needle of the machine. Power for the ruffling operation is coupled by a rotatably mounted member to which the finger means is rotatably secured at a point removed from the axis of rotation of the member. In this manner the finger means is given a reciprocating ruffling motion. The apparatus of the present invention is extremely advantageous inasmuch as it minimizes the number and weight of reciprocating parts. It is thus able to move efficiently and reliably at high speeds.

  • Patent number: 4086458
Abstract: A specialized switch particularly suited for use by the disabled is disclosed. The inventive switch comprises a resilient contacting assembly, having a pair of electrically conducting members, in a housing. The contacting members are maintained out of electrical contact with each other by suitable means associated with the assembly. Application of pressure to the housing brings the members into contact with each other, closing the switch.

  • Patent number: 4063337
Abstract: A multi-element casket, particularly useful for services involving the cremation of the deceased is disclosed. The casket comprises a container bottom configured and dimensioned to contain suitable bedding and the deceased. The container bottom is supported by a platform which also supports a casket shell. The casket shell is placed over the container bottom and has sidewalls which are configured and dimensioned to extend around the container bottom and be supported by the platform, thus giving the appearance of a conventional casket. When the deceased is to be cremated, the shell is raised and the container bottom, containing the deceased and the bedding, is covered and sent to the crematory.
