Abstract: A zinc/air depolarized cell wherein the anode comprises zinc particles, aqueous alkaline electrolyte, and pyrophosphate based (P2O7)4? additive. The cell may be in the form of a button cell. The addition of a pyrophosphate containing additive to the zinc anode improves the cell's service life regardless of whether the zinc is amalgamated with mercury or contains zero added mercury. The pyrophosphate based on (P2O7) content preferably comprises between about 0.001 and 2 percent by weight of the anode.
Abstract: In the printer section of a cigarette making machine, pivotable gear train is provided between a printer die gear and an input gear to change the rotation characteristics of the printer die gear with respect to the input gear. The gear train has different idler gears that can each mesh with the printer die gear to change the direction of rotation of the printer die gear and change the rotational speed of the printer die gear without changing the speed or direction of the input gear.
Abstract: A mechanism for removal of contaminants from a stream of material having a plurality of rotatable cylindrical doffer elements each having flights supplied with cleaning means thereon mounted substantially parallel to one another within a frame. The mechanism is provided with means for adjusting both the positions along the frame of the doffer elements as well as the vertical elevation of the doffer elements with respect to the frame.

Abstract: Apparatus for automatic bagging of compressed bricks of material such as tobacco. The apparatus is provided with a bag opening mechanism, a bag magazine for containing a plurality of bags, a reciprocating table which retracts away from the brick loading mechanism after the compressed brick has been loaded into the opened bag, and a tilt table for dropping the bagged brick onto a take-away conveyor.
Abstract: A method of folding foil around cigarette bundles where the exposed foil on the top of the bundle is flat with no apparent folds. The smooth flat appearance is created by forming the top folds prior to forming the side folds. Notches or holes cut into the foil by which folding stresses on the outermost cigarettes in the bundle are reduced are also provided.

Abstract: An interframe for insertion into a cigarette box is provided. The innerframe allows a bundle of smaller than standard size cigarettes to be securely retained in a standard size cigarette box, which is larger than necessary to hold the smaller than standard size cigarettes. The innerframe creates space in the box so that the cigarettes are securely retained. The innerframe has a front panel, outer side panels, inner side panels, top panels and windows situated between the front panel and each of the outer side panels.
