  • Patent number: 5615718
Abstract: A one-piece cutting tool having a cutting profile designed to cut both a rail and stile. The top portion of the tool cuts the rail while the lower portion of the device cuts the stile. The stile is cut with dimensions which fit into the mating alignment with the rail. The tool is also provided with a pair of bearings to guide a workpiece along the cutting tool regardless of whether the tool is being used to cut a rail or a stile. Additionally, no portion of the tool is designed to cut both the rail and the stile, which allows the tool to wear evenly and which prevents premature wear on the tool.

  • Patent number: 5609278
Abstract: An articulated backpack apparatus for transporting material while attached to a user in which an upper storage element of the apparatus is capable of pivotal movement in relationship to a lower storage element of the apparatus while attached to the user. The backpack apparatus is capable of being collapsed into a satchel orientation so that the backpack apparatus may be carried by hand. From the satchel orientation the upper storage element and lower storage element may be moved apart by a pair of extensible supports so that the backpack apparatus may be secured over the wheel of bicycle in a pannier orientation. Additionally, the backpack apparatus is provided with a pull handle, an extensible shaft, and wheels, so that the backpack apparatus may be rolled along the ground in a pull cart orientation.

  • Patent number: 5606883
Abstract: A hinged access display and dispensing device for lottery-type tickets includes a housing of box-like configuration with a door that is pivotally attached at a lower portion of the housing rear end. A lock assembly is secured in an upper portion of the door and has a head portion located adjacent the door exterior and a body portion extending from the head portion through the door. Projections are formed on the exterior of the lock assembly body portion and the door to coact with one another to secure the lock assembly in the door. In a preferred embodiment, the projections on the lock assembly are in the form of threads on the body portion and the projections on the door are in the form of tabs that extend into the grooves of the lock assembly body portion threads.

  • Patent number: 5591032
Abstract: A laser weapon simulator apparatus for practice in the shooting of a firearm at a target having reflective material thereon. The apparatus includes a laser beam transmitter that is actuable to emit a laser beam of short duration, a laser beam receiver for collecting and processing a reflected portion of the laser beam, circuitry for detecting the emission of the laser beam by the transmitter, and a visual display. The receiver includes circuitry adapted to produce a "hit" signal upon receiving the reflected portion of the laser beam and the detecting circuitry is adapted to produce a "try" signal in response to the emission of the laser beam. The visual display produces an output "hit" display signal upon the concurrent receipt of a "hit" signal from the receiver and a "try" signal from the detecting circuitry.

  • Patent number: 5577586
Abstract: An overrunning clutch having structure capable of maintaining a lubricant within the overrunning clutch during operation. The overrunning clutch is provided with an outer race and an inner race with a sprag assembly positioned therebetween. The sprag assembly is provided with sidewalls which substantially prevent the escape of lubricant between the sprag assembly and the outer race. The overrunning clutch is also provided with thrust washers which substantially prevent the escape of the lubricant between the thrust washers and the outer race, while allowing injection of a lubricant through the thrust washer and over the sidewalls of the sprag assembly to lubricate the sprags during operation of the overrunning clutch.

  • Patent number: 5492398
Abstract: A dual modular device for the display and dispensing of tickets is provided that includes a box type unit with two storage sections and a rear door that is pivotally mounted by a mounting assembly formed of cylindrical posts attached to each lower corner of the door and receivably journaled in cavities located in the lower rear portion of each sidewall of the unit. The door further includes side and top flanges that overlie the sidewalls and roof of the unit when the door is in a closed position to secure the sidewalls of the unit from being forced apart to gain access to the interior of the unit. The lower portion of the door also includes offset side edges to provide a door with approximately the same dimension as the inside measurement between the two sidewalls of the unit so that the lower portion of the door acts as a positioning guide when closing the door.

  • Patent number: 5422059
Abstract: A method and apparatus for injection molding a plastic part using a film gate. The film gate is constructed of a pair of tenon members which retract into a mortise tooled into a mold section. Because the tenon members extend to release the dross formed in the runner, the film gate may be placed in the center of the mold section to decrease the pressure gradient in the curing plastic and to allow the gate to be located where aesthetic aberrations, from the removal of the dross, will not be a problem in the finished article.

  • Patent number: 5405083
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing and spraying a catalyst with a resin onto a surface. The resin and catalyst are internally mixed within a disposable mixing tube. After the spraying is completed, the catalyzed resin is allowed to harden within the tube and the tube is thereafter disposed of. Because the catalyst and resin are not mixed within any reusable portions of the spraying apparatus, the need for rinsing with acetone or similar hazardous solvents is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5402945
Abstract: An improved method for row crop spraying whereby a solution is atomized by high speed air, imparted with an electrical charge, slowed with more high speed air, and deposited over crops including a nozzle for practicing such a technique. Such charged droplets are attracted to oppositely charged crops and are, therefore, more likely to adhere to crops than fall to the ground or to be swept away by the wind. Since a larger percentage of solution adheres to the plant, less solution can be applied thereby addressing both environmental and pecuniary concerns.

  • Patent number: 5395357
Abstract: A substantially closed apparatus for deflecting and retaining waste fluids issuing from the ear canal of a patient being irrigated by a caregiver. The device is preferably transparent thereby allowing the caregiver to accurately manipulate the irrigator within the ear canal and to monitor the waste retainer to determine when the container must be emptied. The substantially closed configuration of the device prevents waste fluids issuing from the ear canal from contacting and contaminating the caregiver which could result in the transfer of infection and disease.

  • Patent number: 5390113
Abstract: A method and apparatus for electronically performing bookkeeping upon a plurality of accounting journal entries having at least one account number and at least one data component associated with each account number. A chart of accounts having account numbers and opening balances associated with the plurality of journal entries is read electronically. A set of account-section numbers is then created for each account number. The journal entries are electronically read and one of the account-section numbers is assigned to each account number. The assigned account-section numbers and associated data components are then sorted in a predetermined order. A design for the predetermined order is identified and compared with stored design records to see if such a design already exists. If not, the new design is stored. If so, the associated data components are added to the accumulated total for each account-section number.
