Abstract: The invention relates to a conical screw blender which comprises an inverted cone-shaped vessel. The blender also includes a material inlet, a material outlet, a driven screw housed within the vessel, and at least two non-diffuse gas injection lines attached to the vessel. The conical screw blender of the present invention can be used not only for the mixing of materials, but also for the drying of materials.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a novel method for preventing or treating the development of respiratory allergies. The method comprises prenatal and/or postnatal administration of a therapeutically effective amount of LGG.

Abstract: This invention relates to novel lactams of Formula (I):
having drug and bio-affecting properties, their pharmaceutical compositions and methods of use. These novel compounds inhibit the processing of amyloid precursor protein and, more specifically, inhibit the production of A&bgr;-peptide, thereby acting to prevent the formation of neurological deposits of amyloid protein. More particularly, the present invention relates to the treatment of neurological disorders related to &bgr;-amyloid production such as Alzheimer's disease and Down's Syndrome.
