Abstract: A combined ceiling fan and light fitting (fan/light) (1) having folding fan blades (12) is provided. The fan light (1) has a blade support (13) arranged to be rotated by an electric motor (6), with blades (12) being secured to the blade support (13), a root end of each blade (12) being pivotable between folded and operative positions about a blade pivot axis-(14) fixed in the blade support (13). In one aspect of the invention, an improved mechanism is provided for synchronizing movement of the blades. This uses a sun gear (16) mounted to the blade support and arranged to mesh with planet gears (17) that rotate about the blade pivot axes (14). In addition improvements are provided to blades (12, 33, 60) and blade mounting arrangements that balance compact folding of the blades (12, 33, 60) and good air moving effectiveness.

Abstract: An LDPC coding system includes a number of LDPC encoders and a number of LDPC decoders. The number of encoders/decoders is between one and one fewer than the total number of tracks on the high density tape are provided. The LDPC encoders are operable to break data from an incoming data sector into the data blocks to be written to the high density tape. The LDPC decoders are operable to assemble the data blocks into data sectors.
Abstract: Dividing a set of leaf objects having the same path of a directory namespace allows the divided path data sets to be distributed over separate physical stores (e.g., directory servers, network storage, separate memory, etc.). Distribution of divided path data sets over separate physical stores enhances scalability of a directory namespace and facilitates efficient utilization of resources. A directory distributor maintains information that indicates distribution of data path sets of a directory namespace and directs requests for the directory namespace to appropriate stores in accordance with this information.

Abstract: In the preparation of aminoorganylsilanes and cyclic aminosilanes by reaction of an organyl amine with a haloorganylsilane, the byproduct halide salt of the amine reactant is decomposed to amine by addition of a base whose halide salt forms a liquid phase at a temperature below 200° C., and the liquid base halide is separated from the reaction mixture.
Abstract: A vehicle exterior lamp is provided with an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) with rows and columns and each LED positioned at an intersection thereof. An LED is illuminated by selectively applying a signal to the row and column corresponding to the LED position. A vehicle headlamp lighting system is provided with an array of LEDs with rows and columns, and each LED positioned at a row and column intersection. The lighting system has a control module for selectively illuminating the LEDs by applying a signal to the rows and to the columns corresponding to the location of the LEDs to be illuminated. A vehicle headlamp is provided with an optical structure for reflection and refraction of light and LEDs. Light emitted by the LEDs interacts with the optical structure and exits the headlamp in a generally perpendicular direction to the LED emitted light.

Abstract: A method and system for limiting motor performance in a hybrid electric vehicle system. During a condition in a primary drivetrain, the method limits performance of an electric motor used in an auxiliary drivetrain to control energy consumed from a battery in the auxiliary drivetrain. A calculation or measurement is made to determine available battery energy remaining in the battery after the condition. The performance of the electric motor is then limited based on the available battery energy.
Abstract: A convertible top and method of operating the convertible top is disclosed. The top has a power cylinder that is mounted to the top stack linkage that lifts the one bow from the windshield header on a four bar link and also simultaneously releases the pressure applied by a pressure link to the rear bow. The pressure link includes an upper link and a lower link that are locked together in an over-center relationship when the top is extended to eliminate vibration of the rear bow or lifting the rear bow off of the rear deck.
Abstract: A computing system has an amount of shared cache, and performs runtime automatic parallelization wherein when a parallelized loop is encountered, a main thread shares the workload with at least one other non-main thread. A method for providing interprocedural prefetching includes compiling source code to produce compiled code having a main thread including a parallelized loop. Prior to the parallelized loop in the main thread, the main thread includes prefetching instructions for the at least one other non-main thread that shares the workload of the parallelized loop. As a result, the main thread prefetches data into the shared cache for use by the at least one other non-main thread.

Abstract: A spectroscopic imaging system includes a microscopic or macroscopic device including an objective, a housing including a spectroscope, and scanning means disposed between the objective and the spectroscope. During the scanning of the excitation beam on a scanned area on the sample surface, the energy of the emitted light beam is integrated on the pixels of the detection means, generating average spectral data for each line of pixels. Storage means are connected to the detection means, including a memory able to store average spectral data of M lines of pixels. An imaging device is connected to the storage means, and the average spectral data of M lines of pixels are sent simultaneously toward the imaging device in order to obtain an average spectroscopic image of the scanned area.
