Abstract: A method is provided for providing secured mobile IP services to a mobile terminal which is currently associated with an access network different from its own home access network. The method is characterized by creating a virtual mobile node at an access network server of the current access network, which communicates with a Home Agent associated with the terminal's home mobile network and with one or more access points associated with the current access network, at which the mobile terminal is currently located.
Abstract: A network (60) within a residence or other building, including both wired (5) and non-wired segments (53). The wired segments are based on new or existing wires (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d, 5e) in the building, wherein access to the wires is provided by means of outlets (61a, 61d), such as a telephone system, electrical power distribution system, or cable television wiring system. The non-wired segments are based on communication using propagated waves such as radio, sound, or light (e.g. infrared). The wired and non-wired segments interface in the outlet, using a module (50) that serves as mediator between the segments. The module can be integrated into the outlet, partially housed in the outlet, or attached externally to the outlet. Such a network allows for integrated communication of data units (24b) connected by wires and data units (24a, 24d) connected without wires.
Abstract: A vehicle seat includes a cushion plate mounted on seat springs, a seat cushion provided in front of the cushion plate; and an auxiliary plate provided between the seat cushion and the cushion plate for pushing out the seat cushion forward. The auxiliary plate is provided at its upper portion with a plurality of hooks to be engaged in a plurality of engagement holes formed in the cushion plate. The hooks are engaged in the engagement holes so that they can rotate around a lateral direction but do not move in back-and-forth direction and in a vertical direction.
Abstract: An endoscope device having a control unit and a bendable probe unit arranged at the distal end of a wire extending from the control unit. The control unit includes a ball shaft and a control lever arranged on the ball shaft. The ball shaft includes a ball member and an outer case that encases the ball member and rotates along the outer peripheral surface of the ball member when the control lever is tilted. The wire is attached to the outer case. The construction facilitates control unit operation, which reduces inspection time and improves inspection accuracy.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a composite article comprising a plurality of layers, wherein at least one of the layers is a defective polymeric layer. The defective polymeric layer has at least one artificial defect, in the form of a volume of air confined by walls made of said defective polymeric layer, and by layers adjacent thereto. The invention further provides the use of a composite article for calibrating equipment and a method for making such a composite article.
Abstract: A rotational damper having a stator and a rotor that is rotatably supported in the stator, the rotor having a first friction element (31, 31 A . . . 31 F), wherein the volume between the stator and the rotor is filled with a viscous fluid. According to the invention, the rotor has a second friction element (32, 32A . . . 32F), which is supported coaxially in relation to the first friction element and rotationally coupled thereto, and which can be axially displaced relative to the first friction element. Due to the two-piece design of the friction element and the ability for axial displacement of the two friction elements, the entire effective surface of the friction element in the viscous fluid, and thus the frictional resistance and the damping characteristics of the rotational damper, can be varied. For this purpose, the second friction element preferably has a plurality of segments (5, 5A . . . 5F), which immerse into the first friction element and can be displaced by an actuator (4, 4A . . . 4G).
Abstract: A wheel set structure of an electric wheelchair is disclosed to include a wheelchair frame, which defines a first steering direction and a second steering direction reversed to the first steering direction, at least one swinging mechanism pivotally mounted on the wheelchair frame each having a swinging member and a wheel holder, at least one transmission wheel assembly connected to the swinging member each having a motor and a driving wheel coupled to and rotatable by the motor, and at least one first wheel assembly mounted on the wheel holder each pivotally holding a wheel. When the at least one swinging member is biased relative to the at least one wheelchair frame, the at least one first wheel assembly is biased with the at least one swinging member so that the elevation of the wheel of each first wheel assembly and the elevation of the driving wheel of each transmission wheel assembly are relatively changed at a constant ratio.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method comprising a coding step consisting in replacing the original values of the file with coding values of reduced brightness, a common coding value being attributed to a group of original values, a step of restitution consisting in setting correspondence values between the coding value and the restored value, selected from one of the values of the corresponding group, an insertion step consisting in modifying the successive redundant restored values so as to produce shades and a step which consists in reading the values resulting from the insertion step.
Abstract: A plant for the forming of lead-acid battery cells includes plugs to be fitted to the openings of the cells, each plug including a first inlet duct, a second outlet duct to set up a circulation of electrolyte inside the cell and supply and balancing elements to dilute with air the inflammable gases formed in the cell and to favor the balancing of the pressure inside the cell with the external atmospheric pressure. The supply and balancing elements include a third supply and balancing duct connecting the upper part of the plug with a part of the supply tank at atmospheric pressure which introduces the electrolyte into the cell. The plant includes a fan which forms a vacuum in the suction header, drawing the electrolyte and the inflammable gases from the cells and, through the third duct, ventilating the cells without forming a vacuum inside them.
Abstract: A process for obtaining rubber pellets from used tires is described, the process comprises a series of steps which take account of the structure of a tire, and among which are mainly: collecting used tires having a tread and lateral faces, in which the tread includes an inner layer and an outer layer; and each lateral face includes a flange at the inner edge thereof; separating the tread from the lateral faces; cutting the tread transversely through the inner layer and the outer layer in order to form a strip from the tread; cutting the strip in order to form pellets therefrom; detaching the flange from the separated lateral faces; and cutting the flange-less lateral faces in order to form pellets therefrom.
Abstract: A method for providing neuroprotection to a patient in need of neuroprotection, comprising administering a neuroprotective-effective amount of a compound of formula I in which X is an oxygen atom or an ?N—OH group, R is selected from the group consisting of A is a hydrogen atom or together with B a carbon-carbon bond, B is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxy group or together with A a carbon-carbon bond, C is a hydrogen atom or together with D a carbon-carbon bond, D is a hydrogen atom or together with C a carbon-carbon bond, E is a hydrogen atom or together with F a carbon-carbon bond, F is a hydrogen atom or together with E a carbon-carbon bond, or an addition salt with a pharmaceutically acceptable acid.
